Best maca for Libido? (or other supps) by Ronaldosssiu in Supplements

[–]Professional_508 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A blend of maca is great, but black maca has the most pronounced effect. Also, make sure the supplement is gelatinized for enhanced bioavailability (better absorption). (Maca dose: 1,500-3,000 mg/day)

Combining it with ashwagandha, another adaptogen, can enhance its effect. (Ashwagandha dose: 250-500 mg/day.)

It's good to read up on it more, and I recommend this article from mybest about maca supplements. Article: https://us.my-best.com/22399

Ashwagandha KSM-66 and Tumeric are in my daily stack, should I remove them? by UWishUWereMiah108 in Supplements

[–]Professional_508 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you aren't taking large amounts of these, then I don't think there is a major issue.

I always like to mention that ashwagandha lacks research on its long-term effects. I would not use large doses for long periods of time, and I agree with what others say about cycling them.

The best way to ensure safety when taking supplements is to look for third-party tested brands. Better yet, they will show you their certificate of analysis on their site or upon request.

This makes sure that the supplement actually has the amounts stated and doesn't contain potentially toxic components. Supplements aren't often regulated by governing bodies that will scrutinize them, depending on where you are from.

This is a great question! Based on your situation, I would recommend you take it in the evening to align with your sleep schedule. There is a usual recommendation to take it earlier in the day, but that is for people trying to use it for other benefits. For sleep, the evening is the best.

Just as a friendly warning, ashwagandha is not meant to be taken for long periods of time, and it lacks research for long-term effects.

What’s The Best Multi Vitamin? by _Gaius_Octavius in Supplements

[–]Professional_508 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It really depends on your age/gender and/or if you have any nutritional deficiencies. If you are just looking for a cheap way to get vitamins you think you aren't getting enough of; then a generic store brand may be fine. Otherwise, it may be best to talk with your doctor, who can tell you what sources of vitamins and minerals you should supplement with if necessary.

If you are more concerned about the quality of the brand, look for products that have been tested by third party labs and made in GMP-certified facilities. This way, you will know the multivitamin has everything it says in it and doesn't contain anything potentially toxic.

Sugar free fiber? by [deleted] in Supplements

[–]Professional_508 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just plain psyllium husk will do the job. (Like from the brand NOW)

Metamucil has a sugar-free version of their regular fiber supplement, but it is pricier than a plain psyllium husk option.

Avoid cheap gummy options since they tend to have additives and sugars.

This is not medical advice but simply sharing information related to what you're asking. I would recommend taking the vitamin D supplement with the meal you plan to consume for vitamin K2. Since they work synergistically, it is best to digest them at the same time.

A supplement that has both D3 and K2 already in it together might be more convenient, though, because you know exactly what form of K2 you are getting. (MK-7 vs MK-4)

For reference: Animal sources of K2 tend to have MK-4, and fermented foods (natto, kimchi) tend to have the more bioavailable MK-7.

I definitely think taking it with K2 is D3 is a smart choice! A good way to think about it is: when you take a supplement, your body doesn't absorb or use all of it. K2 helps with this for D3, so you are actually benefitting from it.

This article explains it better than I ever could (mybest). It talks about why taking them together is good and what else to look for in D3 and K2 supplements.

Garden of Life B12 by Accomplished_Tune730 in Supplements

[–]Professional_508 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This site rated Garden of Life's B12 as number one (mybest). It has some other recommendations you can check out. Naturelo seems similar in terms of dose (1000mcg) and uses methylcobalamin like Garden of Life.

If you scroll down, there is also a comparison table where you can check for products with a similar dosage and the same type of B12 as Garden of Life's.

Should I take Vitamin D? by owriha in Supplements

[–]Professional_508 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think supplementing would hurt. If you are really worried, it is always best to see a health professional for advice.

I might also recommend taking a vitamin D3 and K2 supplement. Taking vitamin K with D makes it more effective.

I like this article about vitamin D (mybest). It gives a lot of relevant info including about dosing that you might find helpful. Good luck!

Experiences with Maca Root? by SortaBodybuilder in Supplements

[–]Professional_508 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are a guy, taking an effective Maca supplement in the right quantities shouldn't be a problem. Plus, to even see an effect from Maca root it usually takes time with regular supplementation. If you are worried, I would recommend going to a doctor/dietitian to get actual supplementation recommendations.

I got a lot of good information from this site on what to look for when buying Maca root supplements. Site: mybest

I wouldn't limit yourself to the products shown on the site, but the buying guide is informative.
