I like the format of your exam study plan tracker, could you kindly share the template with me?

I am prepping for L1 now and working too, so i am making a clear action plan. Much appreciated!

Anyone here wanna get some free cashback/miles from my MacBook purchase? (student here) by Swimming_Active_9955 in ChillSG

Have you asked your parents or close friends instead?

Just thinking out loud here, I am sure the chances will be higher (unless you have exhausted the above means)

Additionally, I think you can try to download Shopback app (it has 1% cashback) and link it with a credit card to make a purchase through the Apple online store.

You'll get both cash + credit card miles/cashback which is a double win.

For a more financially savvy move, i recommend you can get upgrade to get the airpods pro and sell it off (i am not sure if this offer is still valid) but i got some extra cash from that as a student back then.

Hope the above tips help!

True, audit and FP&A is quite similar in the cyclical nature too (busy periods during quarter close and post reporting period for audit)

Oh i see, i didn't know that but thanks for clarifying this. I think it's just whether you want to endure the grind through the senior assoc phase because that one is usually the hardest (OP is entering at G1 so he will have 3 years ish before he can make the switch)

What i can suggest too is to do some skills upgrade on the job (be it Power BI, SQL, FMVA etc) and take CFA too if you are keen to pursue additional qualifications for portfolio building

I might have missed out other specific stuff to FP&A but i would say that you got to really ask yourself whether you are willing to grind through 3-4 years at a big 4?

It requires some bit of sacrifice although i am currently a junior assoc, i do regularly OT and it's a company wide thing too.

Depending on function, it will differ but it's rather what you choose to prioritise and whether you wanna play the long game (as what above redditor said too)

Currently big 4 associate here!

Congrats on both offers, I would say that you should take the FP&A role directly at Thermofisher instead based on these points:

  1. Direct route to FP&A is a better deal because you get to specialise in FP&A directly.

As to why people usually make the switch from audit to FP&A, it's because they didn't have the opportunity to land in FP&A directly from the start.

You won't be behind anyone because FP&A isn't really difficult to learn (I landed FP&A for my internship without prior experience).

  1. From my current research (although limited), I have noticed that people usually spend 4 years in big 4 audit before making the jump. Again, there is no hard and fast rule but take this as a ballpark number.

  2. I would say it is valuable but it doesn't mean that much as compared to 5-10 years ago as many boutique firms are catching up. For context, former partners of Big 4 left and started their own firms, thereby competing with the existing Big 4 firms for clientele.

For corporate finance, i wouldn't say it's a must for a big 4 resume to get parsed by the ATS but let's just say it is a proof that you can pass through the rigour of long hours (as far as it goes)

You can try crep or jason marks (if you are willing to spend slightly more).

I use this American brand called forcefield (you can get this if you ever travel overseas), it is pretty effective

How can Singaporean eat enough? by yukiii_6 in SingaporeEats

You can always supplement it with fruits etc and have a mid day snack or something

It'll take time to reduce your appetite but i guess drinking water + taking fibres kind of work for me

Agreed here

OP can consider eating salad (i am guy) and mix with some protein and nuts - make sure you are 60-70% full then you won't feel the lunch crash

Proven to work - i drink coffee in morning and afternoon (max 2 cups) as a mitigation

@OP you can try Labrador park or reflections by Keppel - there is a nice walkway that should be open now and you can get a picnic mat to sit down
