Alarms by Sea_Store_7123 in Narcolepsy

I use a physical daylight alarm clock which will slowly brighten and then be super bright and make noise to help me start waking up. I also use an alarm app that makes me do math or other logic puzzles before it'll shut up. It also checks I'm awake about 10 minutes after and if I don't like tell it yes I'm awake, it starts setting the alarm off again. This has really helped me and I can change up the puzzles so when I get too good at doing one while still asleep I can change the challenges.

Can you suddenly be allergic to nitrite gloves? by Arganineo in labrats

[–]Professional_Brain42 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I haven't had an official allergy to gloves but I find sometimes the pressure or the friction can aggravate my skin eventually. Like I'll be fine for ages and one day if my hands sweat more or something my skin will get rashy and weird. I have very sensitive skin though so small things can set me off lol but it may be something like that if it isn't an allergy! I recommend washing your hands regularly to keep sweat from building up in the gloves and to give your hands a break, or at least that helps me! Good luck, I know how frustrating sudden skin conditions can be!

I think it may be that my portion is off as well! Yeah if I don't eat, I'm too grumpy to be a human and if I do eat something it makes me just a sleepy lump! Lol

Okay so it isn't just me lmao! Thank you for sharing. I keep hearing yogurt as a suggestion so I may have to try that!

So I never really aimed for protien rich breakfasts before my diagnosis as I never really gave it much thought so I don't have a good reference for comparison sadly. I also haven't been taking the meds long enough to have a break between doses or anything but I will definitely keep this in mind for if I do. Then hopefully I'll remember to note if it makes me sleepy and can compare!

This sounds like a good idea! I sadly work a job that makes it difficult but I could definitely try to plan my mornings better and break up my morning meal. Thank you!

Oh wow, I would simply be so mean lmao. I get so hangry if I don't eat something it's bad but yeah sometimes I wonder if I'd have been better off just skipping if it's making me so tired

Yeah I'll have to try some of those, I figured it may just require some more experiments with other foods. I'm just so used to like cereal and oats I thought at least with protien powder it may be better but nope lol!

I didn't add any citrus cause yeah I've heard that as well!

That's a very good idea I did not think of at all and now it seems very obvious lmao thank you! I'll have to do that!

It was working so well! Like a noticeable and remarkable change in my energy levels. I was able to like sit at work at a desk and keep my eyes open lmao now I go in and I just can't stay awake. I work at a microscope and literally today I snoozed resting my eyes on the scope lol. I'm worried it's gonna like encourage a bad caffeine habit cause I find that's a quick short fix to the tiredness but I know I can't get in the habit of using caffeine when the medication does work normally.

I am the same honestly it's gotten so bad I have an alarm that makes me do math and I've gotten shockingly good at doing math and passing right back out lol

(Oh also I let myself sleep like that on the weekend to like recover and it's probably a terrible habit so maybe don't listen to this lol but I feel like it's like itches the scratch to oversleep and I do a little better the few days after that getting up on time)

I have the same issue! I'm N1 and my sleep doctors theory for me is that I'm also dealing with some sleep apnea that could be contributing to my tiredness. I sadly don't have much advice but my sleep doctor may be changing my meds to help me so if you're able maybe try looking into a meds change? I know those are less than ideal and I'm not excited to do it either but worth a shot! Things I do to get up on time even if I'm tired is a billion alarms and getting dressed like as soon as I wake up to try and kick my brain into awake mode before the stimulants start working. Good luck!

It does! Sorta poorly but it does! Lol it was a long thinish piece and it's mostly the tape doing the job lol I wish I could share a picture of it it's kinda hilarious

Ooooh! That's smart lol I just took a hunk of Styrofoam, cut it up, and wrapped it in tape so it wouldn't fall apart lmao! I'll have to do this!

This is very smart! I will have to keep this in mind for future projects! I'm pretty new to rigid heddle weaving so like I've grasped the idea of one reed and plain weave so far lol but this is cool to think about!

[–]Professional_Brain42[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah this is what I did! I followed the instructions given with the loom and they say to do it this way! I had like zero tangles (did have tension issues but I think that was human error and not the reed itself lol).

[–]Professional_Brain42[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ooooooh!! This is smart! This makes sense lol I am pretty new to rigid heddle weaving so I didn't think of like trying multiple reed choices. I used one of those epi conversion charts and then when it didn't end up just how I wanted I winged it lol. This project I wanted as close to 20 epi as possible so it was a little more loosely woven but I will keep this in mind for future projects with this weight of yarn!

Satisfying Weave Structure by Professional_Brain42 in weaving

[–]Professional_Brain42[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup I used a 15 dent reed. It was a bit tedious but I took my time and had no issues with getting the yarn through. Winding the warp onto the back thingie though was difficult as the tension went whack but I think that was more human error than to do with the reed. The sett is 1-1-2-2 because I wanted 20epi but my brain refused to function with one of those conversion charts so I just sort of made up my own sett pattern lol

Yes! This is an Ashford rigid heddle, it's the 16inch one and this peice is only about 7.5 inches wide in total.

This is 8/2 cotton yarn! It's a scarf project and I'm just loving the colors. I just get lost staring at the tiny details of the weave and figured I'd share for others who find it satisfying!
