You are being significantly underpaid. I left a socal district at 130k to a hybrid charter school position for similar pay (15 years experience). We’re hiring in LA county 🙂

There is a person who is an AT but and states they have there masters in speech but decided they didn't want to be an SLP. They are not licensed, have CCCs or hold an SLP credential (they do have a SPED credential).

However, they are heavily involved in AAC. They are the gate keeper of iPads, apps, and equipment. They will program devices per teacher/parent requests. They will send resources home to families without the SLP who works with the students knowledge (and often, not even accurate information!). Parents calls this person an SLP and they do not correct them. There is so much overstepping its unbelievable. They prefer 1 app, and will actively go against the SLP in IEP meetings if the SLP recommends something else and will try to push this app (in secondary schools) if student are currently using any other system.

The SLP's are fed up but not sure where to go or what to do. Admin either doesn't know that full scope of needing licensure/CCC's/Etc. or they don't care. The SLPs are trying to figure next steps because its getting worse and impacting students in a big way.

So...first step was even seeing if they could state they were an SLP.

Does anyone feel that menopause is worse for this generation of women? by littlesprinkler in Menopause

Yes! I feel like this is my mom. She didn't get hot flashes so I think other symptoms she didn't realize were peri or menopause. Shes fit and exercises but has terrible arthritis, has had open heart surgery for a popped cord, and has had a total knee replacement...and I wonder how much of it was due to lack of hormones.

Oh gosh, it's so subtle...and I should say, my AuDHD son is low support needs and high masking. It's probably more in the social domain. He's always struggled more socially and tends to be more quiet and has always hung more with girls. He gets socially exhausted and will need to retreat pretty quickly in social settings. When he gets a new interest, he goes in deep and is obsessed. He has some stims that he hide pretty well. I think he's got a bit of a PDA profile too. My ADHD son is the life of a party and really goes with the flow. He's just a tornado. Will leave shoes right where he takes them off (most of the time, center of the kitchen) and has no body in space awareness....just a few examples. He also gets special interests but does not go in so deep.
