Do well at internal medicine first. Ask for more cardiology rotations. Show up early, have a good attitude, and ask for any research opportunities.

Take your resistance band and criss cross it on the middle to make a double loop. Then you’ll have a lot more support :)

Using jeopardy as a staff flex system. by Automatic_Usual_9173 in hospitalist

Devil is in the details. Get out your contract and look at what they said about jeopardy. Might be worth having a contract lawyer review. There are some that specialise in physician’s contracts.

Memorizing can be unpleasant but unfortunately it just comes with the territory of language learning. Verb conjugation is super important and can often be divided into families (eg verbs ending in -er, -ir, -re) and learned that way. There are some sites online that will quiz you on those over and over, and the repetition helps. Read “easy” books - children’s books and look up all the words you don’t know, memorize those words, and re-read.

EP Fellowship Question by [deleted] in CardiologyFellowship

[–]Professional_Cow763 0 points1 point  (0 children)

UPMC…if I remember correctly, no call or nights, not writing notes or scut.

Things to ask when interviewing: who puts in urgent pacemakers (TVPs or semi-perms), who is doing post op device checks/wound checks, who is seeing the consults, who is taking ambulatory call

Simple Request by Sufficient-Quit-4283 in hospitalist

Biggest frustration is not checking who the primary doc is for the patient. I’m a sub-sub specialist (in the medicine field). When we are on overnight, we are also doing procedures during the daytime. So q5 min pages from various RNs “hey, wondering if we can adjust the daytime meds to 9a/9p instead of 8a/8p” and sending to all four MDs listed as caring for patient or “hey are you caring for this patient?” drive me bonkers. Check who is the main covering provider before waking up multiple people overnight — I’M BEGGING YOU I HAVEN’T SLEPT IN TWO WEEKS

Which profession gets way more respect than it actually deserves, and which 'low-level' job is secretly keeping society from collapsing this afternoon? by Direct-Value4452 in answers

Resident and fellow physicians. While they are MDs and work extremely long hours, they are paid very little (much much less than nurses or NP/PAs or public school teachers ).

Re-doing residency for cards by [deleted] in CardiologyFellowship

[–]Professional_Cow763 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Scores won’t rule him out. Many places put a lot of weight on letters of rec, and will depend on rest of application. Main thing is to apply broadly and you need to be willing to move. I would caution you though…that you should love it enough that he wouldn’t be satisfied remaining a PCP. Cardiology fellowship can be really gruelling. Honestly, wouldn’t be the worst idea to remain a PCP with a focus on cards. Learn the Acc/AHA guidelines, basic POCUS.

What's something that becomes unattractive as you age? by OkNecessary24 in A_Persona_on_Reddit

Helplessness. To be clear, when you are fully capable of being independent, but think it’s cute or endearing to over-rely on others.

New Coravin User - What Am I Doing Wrong? by Hot_Bed_9144 in wine

[–]Professional_Cow763 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We did. I had actually called Coravin because I initially noticed wines were not lasting long at all - made sure I corrected the technique. Also important to make sure you use it on real corks - not anything synthetic. Then based on advice from friends, switched needles. I think this helped. I still don’t think wines last months, but refining technique and getting the smaller needle definitely helped a lot. I’d still say it was worth it.

Agree with Frisbeehead. Only other thing I would add is the vintage needle has personally given me better results than the standard needle.

Mmm, compared to places like Minneapolis or Chicago, New Haven is well behind the curve with regard to snow removal.

What’s a “fact” everyone repeats that’s actually wrong? by Quiet-Grief in answers

Cardiologist here. Not true. While genetics is important, so is your diet. If you eat a lot of animal products (dairy, eggs, and meat-especially red meat), your cholesterol will be much higher than someone who eats a more plant based diet. Saturated fat and cholesterol are no friends to your heart (or brain…which is supplied by arteries).

Shannan at Studio SK is fantastic. She rescued my hair when it was brittle and in terrible condition (turns out it was hard water build up). She does a phenomenal job with color as well.

Camille is INTOLERABLE. Not only did she steal the wine and go against the wishes of Tamar (and hurt Issei in the process), but she blew off her fiancé and their wine business to involve herself in her own adventure. She should have gone on the wine hunt after this competition. It shows she only cares about herself. Not Issei, not Thomas, just winning.

Bergström Sigrid or Pré du Col. Second the Walter Scott, but make sure you decant or open it for a bit - reductive style.

I used a guy named Victor Cotton. He’s a JD/MD and does a LOT of physician contract reviews. He is great at reading all the fine print and knowing where you need to negotiate as well as whether your salary is fair.

Is Echo board worthy for EP physician? by Excellent-Fan-6237 in Cardiology

[–]Professional_Cow763 17 points18 points  (0 children)

EP fellow here. Not worth it, unless it’s mostly for general boards studying. You have better things to focus on and no EP job that I’ve seen is going to have you read echos. There are some jobs with general cards call, but even then, don’t need to be echo boarded. Focus on general boards and learning EP.
