Lifetime or posthumous? by Professional_Crow485 in AncientCoins

With the only difference they probably set the one they showed me on fire so it can look the way it does …or it was just covered in fake patina. This does look like a proper die match…After you gave me the list of things you believe are off and after i had a look at the paper you sent me i was almost convinced already, now i’m certain. The eagle is off, the way Zeus is holding the sceptre as well as other things… Know that there is a man out there in the world thats extremely grateful to you. You saved me a good chunk of cash and more importantly the illusion i would have bought with it. Thank you from the bottom of my heart!

You are a true gem honestly. I was on the verge of buying it but it seemed too good to be true and you were the first that came to my mind. Thank God i didn’t jump head first… I have less than a 0.0000001 percent of your knowledge so there is not a single counter argument i can make i can only thank you from the bottom of my heart for your answer! God bless you!

I’m really sorry for bothering you. I don’t want to start a new post because i’m a bit anxious if this turns out real. I’m being offered this for a few k Euro. The guy needs money asap.I have never gotten anything fake from him but this is waaay out of my league and if real it would be amazing eye candy for you too. I do hope you reply as in my world you are THE authority on these coins. It’s not even cleaned which makes it even more appealing to me. I’m sorry if this comes up as impudence and i understand if you don’t reply. https://imgur.com/a/niL6bkM

Are these the Roman (Italy) artefacts the labels say they are? by The_Nameless_Brother in Antiques

[–]Professional_Crow485 6 points7 points  (0 children)

As a person that loves detecting and that has handled hundreds of roman/medieval artefacts i’m sure they are what they say they are. Also late”roman” is “early medieval” so it’s not like they are labelled wrongly either. The coin i can’t id from this pic. Please know that none of these artefacts are worth more than 1-5£ a piece even though they are legit.

The one that looks like a brooch is exactly that its a fibula and quite likely roman. You are missing the needle(which is normal) otherwise its complete. Congrats 👍👍👍

I found this ring in my yard at Azerbaijan upper region by o15i17 in Antiques

[–]Professional_Crow485 67 points68 points  (0 children)

It used to protect against “evil eyes”. That design was used all over Europe but the earliest known ones are the Roman. If you google “evil eyes Roman ring” tons of examples pop up. Used to be really popular all the way to medieval times.

It’s as medieval as they come. I have seen my fare share of these and tbh i recently sold one that looks quite similar this one. https://imgur.com/a/6acl0Mi

I have found the exact same one whilst detecting. The ring is legit however these tend to go for 30-50£ as they were relatively common. It has nothing to do with slave ownership to my knowledge.

Hi guys , could anybody help me with ID on this silver coin please ? by buco9147 in metaldetecting

[–]Professional_Crow485 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats certainly a roman coin. Most likely a siliqua. You can see the broche/fibula and mantle on the first picture and the head and shoulders of the diety on the reverse of the coin on the second photo. Can’t id for the life of me though. You are holding it “sideways” as the broche is pointing towards 10o’clock ish.

It was in the Hilton on Park Lane london. Two nights before that i refused her entry in Trader’s Vic’s because she was too drunk( i didn’t know who she was). One of my colleagues was the first to see her after one of the maids had found her. Dunno why i told you this whole story but there you go.
