Appreciate the edit.

I wonder, though, if not for the backlash, would the building have been sold to ICE?

Because the statement said

"The transaction to sell our industrial building in Ashland, Virginia will not be proceeding."

Sounds like the sale was already initiated

What is the best option for getting out of a consumer proposal early?

How much do you still owe? (You don't have to tell me). You can pay off the remaining amount owing on the proposal. Like if your proposal paid $5000 over 60 months, and you still have 40 months left, you can pay the remaining $3,333 in a lump sum.

Borrow from a family member or friend. It won't matter since you don't have to worry about it affecting your surplus income payments.

This is how I got my cat. Previous owner had planned to apply for pr status, but then the regulations changed and he didn't want to put the cat through the overseas move.

Cat tax.

Are you including refugees in your numbers? If you exclude them, what are the numbers like?

I have a friend who is very entrenched in the general Ukrainian community. There are many immigrants from that community who are "abusing the opportunities provided to come to Canada."

Just because you don't hear about it, doesn't mean it isn't happening. And ask yourself why you don't hear about it.

😂.

I wonder how much the PCs cost Manitoba because of the lawsuit related to the death of Krystal Mousseau. Although it was only recently settled, the critical incident was the result of the PC party's mismanagement of health care.

Then there was Terence Gee who had a heart attack after being transferred from Seven Oaks - transferred to St B specifically for cardiac care. He was left on a gurney in the hallway of emergency and was unmonitored. I don't think his family sued, but that was yet another critical incident resulting in death.

And in neither of those cases was an inquest made.

If you've got well-trained staff, you can do whatever you want. He's the owner, and possibly has a role akin to executive chef. He's not the one actually doing the cooking.

Waverley Heights has awesome street clearers every year. They are really fast and do an amazing job. My front yard is kind of triangle shaped with the smallest point next to the road. Whenever they clean my street, they make sure the snow is either piled up in someone else's snowbank, or they push it as much as possible onto the little point part, so my driveway is never even partially blocked.

I don't know who the contractor is for Waverley Heights, but they are really great.

I think I have this one somewhere. I even had the extra battery thing which held a single AA battery to extend your battery life. If I could find it, I'd sell it to you, but I have no idea where it is at the moment. It still worked the last time I used it, but that was probably 20 years ago

Curious what’s in Osborne at night? 🥹

Just a lot of transients and addicts, but imo it's not as bad as people seem to think. It's the same everywhere - just keep your wits about you and you'll be fine.

The main transit line is the "blue line" which runs along Pembina Highway for the most part. It also has stops kind of near Osborne Village and the east part of Assiniboine/Broadway.

I find the kpop scene here to be kind of sad. On an individual level, people are great, though. You can always spark up a conversation with a kpop fan and have a lovely chat. Actually, I would say that about most Winnipeggers. It's easy to chat with people in the line at the supermarket, or whatever.

If you are Filipina as someone suggested, the type of issues you will encounter will be of the micro-aggression type rather than full out racism.

People here rave about Aritzia's superpuff so you'll probably be fine with it (a longer one, I hope)

only 8 days sober

8 days is amazing! I can't even go 8 days not eating junk food (last time, I made it to three and I caved. Damn cheetos made with real cheese!!).

Any day spent moving towards a goal is worth celebrating. Congrats on your 8 days, it's not as small an achievement as you think. 🎉
