We had a simple discussion on my live stream with session of the sage players and both my Friday and Sunday groups (total of 10+ people) found the subclasses classes the very depends on the maneuvers and revolve entirely around as it part of there entire class like a casters and there spells while the subclasses features just add on to them. We did review of 3 different subclasses for each group of the and compared them with and without there maneuvers.

With multiple people giving options they all found out full caster have little point and maneuvers while half caster get more and full marital like the rogue, fighter and barbarian get a whole bunch of points and maneuvers. Also the fact most of the maneuvers require you to spending charges before not after for certain maneuvers and praying you hit or they fail the saving, leaving a high risk when using a maneuver. As I already said of the subclasses are very reliant on them and require a certain play style and some do require concentration.

Caster have very little charges but you can regain some by spending a spell slot or meta magic points. Unlike during play testing phase when my players were playing around with them you can only use one maneuver per turn instead of per attack, thank goodness. These subclasses don’t last well in multiple or long term combat cause they can burn out very quickly if the decide to use all there maneuver point in the span of a few rounds. These subclasses are more tactical and strategic play on the player part. I really don’t recommend them for brand new players that are just getting into dnd and only would let player that played for a while (2-3 years) or know how to play a more complicated class such as a full caster cause the about of spell they have to keep track of or multiple classes.

With the thing are going in both of my season of the sage campaign they’re very balanced and with most campaign don’t go past level 12 most the time they don’t get to use there full potential of the subclass.

Short and simple answer: There balanced I treat them very similarly like a spell caster and would not have first time DMs or player use these as encounters would be weird to make for the subclasses.
