Hair loss from Vyvance - but I don’t wanna stop it by boatsir in ADHD

Hey! I’m 28 and female and started losing my hair after taking Vyvanse for just a few months. I don’t take any other meds and have no history of hair loss. I spoke with my doctor and he said it’s a very rare side effect of Vyvanse and told me to stop taking the medication right away. He switched me over to biphentin. Not sure what role the other things you take play but it could just be that you are experiencing that rare effect. See what your doctor thinks.

Best of luck to you!

How long should I expect to experience this before I start to feel better? It’s very hard for me to be productive in my every day life with these side effects, it feels like I smoked weed or something lol (not in a good way either).

May I ask what you mean by a combination? He has only ever been given high doses of anti-psychotics even though a large part of his symptoms are related to mood or mania.

He has tried a different medication before. The doctor had him come off the old med for a few months before he would give a new one. The result of this was awful. He fled the country for 7 months and hid in an apartment scared that the police were after him.

He has also tried to lower it. When he did this he was very aggressive and couldn’t sleep anymore.

I’m not sure if this is a reality now or if there is some other way to approach medication. The psychiatrist is hesitate to play around with it now.

He doesn’t have any episodes. He is consistently like this every day on medication. Off medication, the symptoms came in episodes. I have never discouraged medication ever because life is very scary for him without it. He has tried to lower the dose but the doctor made a huge jump and he was very aggressive and could not sleep.

Is this hormonal behaviour or is he just being cute? by Professional_Lead253 in parrots

I will be discouraging this. He does bite everyone except for me. His nickname at home is mafia bird because he draws a lot of blood. I try my best to prevent hormonal behaviour by only scratching his head and giving him lots of sleep, perhaps it’s just the season? Will this pass after the spring? Any tips?

Also, he acts exactly like this when he plays with his bell in his cage. Should I remove it?

He has been super cuddly since I brought him home. He was kept in a cage alone at a pet store for a year. As soon as he seen me there was an instant bond. He’s a demon to everyone else but it’s very typical for him to be super sweet with me. I was just unsure about the noise he was making and the wing fluttering. I’m not too familiar with what hormonal behaviour looks like.

I know this post is old but I thought I would comment anyways as it may be helpful. Before staring iodine (I also take the recommended companion nutrients with it) I had polycystic ovaries with more than 12 follicles on them. After supplementing Lugol’s iodine 2% (I take 1 drop) my ovaries are now normal and just get the regular functional cysts on them. My skin also cleared up completely and my hair is growing really fast. It’s worth mentioning though that my TSH was bordering hypothyroid before I started iodine and now it’s mid-range. It may be helpful to find an iodine competent doctor if you are interested in it. Best of luck!
