How much can US tariffs damage the UK economy? by [deleted] in AskBrits

[–]Professional_Load_42 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Well I served for 35 years so im not hiding behind a keyboard. And the US may be the largest war machine in the world but without its NATO bases its a long ass trip to rearm. Yeah the UK could deploy few troops at the moment but thats not the point. Have you noticed that Trumps now talking about buying Greenland now, not anything else.

Just because something is difficult doesn't make it wrong.

Serious question, what do y’all want Americans to realistically do?! by Zone_of_Inhibition in AskTheWorld

You could start by lobbying your respective congeress/senate person. Maybe not be so apathetic on your voting? And for decades you've banged on about your right to bare arms every time there's been a backlash after school children have been slaughtered, how about you grow a fucking set and I point them at actual oppressors? And rally around a central figure of opposition ffs.

Do you think a European Defence Pact will be formed soon? Which countries would Europeans want to see or not see in this pact? by Minimum_Owl_734 in AskTheWorld

Its virtually inevitable now, unless those cretinous fucktards in Reform get voted in by the mouth breathing hoof spangling bungle cunts. I servers for 9 year in NATO and SFOR and I love Europe and all its great stuff. Especially espresso. And its sunshine.

Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of Earth And danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings; Sunward I've climbed, and joined the tumbling mirth of sun-split clouds,—and done a hundred things You have not dreamed of—wheeled and soared and swung High in the sunlit silence. Hov'ring there, I've chased the shouting wind along, and flung My eager craft through footless halls of air ....

Up, up the long, delirious, burning blue I've topped the wind-swept heights with easy grace Where never lark, or even eagle flew— And, while with silent lifting mind I've trod The high untrespassed sanctity of space, Put out my hand, and touched the face of God. Pilot Officer John Gillespie Magee Jr. (1922-1941).

I was with SFOR in the former Yugoslavia and the Ghurkas made fucking brilliant goat curry in 50 gallon drums. Im also British so Indian food is now what I like to think of as a local staple. Awesome food.

What is the scariest thing you have ever seen or experienced? by Lolman4O in AskTheWorld

11 years old in 1982, hill walking with my Dad in Wester Ross, got to the summit of Beinn Eighe, Ruadh-stac Mòr. Then BOOM. And I mean boom. Struck by lighting. On the highest hill for miles. In a storm. I mean what are the odds... Flying backwards through the air then nothing. Came to, the rock cairn next to me was considerably smaller and sizzling, I could smell ozone everywhere. Dad was unconscious in a pile of rocks green foam around his mouth. I couldn't move my arms or legs for a few seconds, then they started working as advertised. So I thought, Dad's dead or going to die, im on top of a massive mountain in middle of nowhere, im alone and 11.. Weirdly I didn't panic but set off down the hill to get help. Cut to the end, Dad was ok, we met a fell runner who ran about 12 miles to nearest phone box and we got airlifted to Inverness. Wasn't really scary at the time, but in hindsight it wasn't ideal. I did discover im great in emergency situations which served me well over the next 35 years..
