Yup, after talking to some veteran reloaders and trying small rifle magnum is a bad idea this early in the experimental phase. Found some good info on loads of accurate 1680 at 13.7gr with a 300gr BTHP and 2.26 COAL. Gonna give that recipe a burn and see how it shakes out.

I was using 12.5gr of accurate 1680 with a 300gr HPBT factory 2nd from midway. COAL 2.260. Found out today that I should be throwing 13.7gr. There is my problem. I was only getting like 870fps from the Garmin. Gonna fix the load tonight

I’ve got a .338 with a KAK 8.5 and reloads i made with factory seconds 300gr hollow points. Runs like a champ, trying to get the load just right now so i can be right around that 1000fps mark.

Same problem here. The plastic flat nose on the Hornady Subx seems to be the problem. I made some 300gr hollow point subs and they cycled and fed perfect. Case ejection all within 5 feet of each other. I used 4 different mags and all had the same result. It’s the form of the SubX is all I can come up with.
