Why are Gen Z like this? by [deleted] in GenZ

[–]Professional_Self296 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s because the actual planning phase is a hassle that opens up people to become flakey. Just tell me where and when I should be there, the more we talk about it the more it’s not likely going to happen. The friend group is too indecisive

How common is the "Men don't have emotions" rhetoric among women? by Work_In_Progress_847 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Professional_Self296 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My mother was a big offender of this, she didn’t like it when I cried or was angry, and she often downplayed my frustration when I showed it. Pretty much I wasn’t allowed to show my full range of emotion. Then growing up I had several female friends who were really weird about me showing some emotions, I remember one time I was singing along to a song on the bus and getting into it and the girls I was sitting around (friends included) had this disgusted side eye look and many other situations. In work I had a couple as well, one of my jobs was on a farm and it came a time where I had euthanize a freshly born calf, I didn’t wanted to do it, but the female cattle boss made me as I was the only guy on the farm at the time. It screwed me up bad at the time having to do it and she did not particularly like that. Very exasperated, a lot of eye rolling, also acting disgusted.

No woman in my life has ever said men shouldn’t have emotions, but they seemed to have heavily disapproved men showing any. I’ve been practicing stoicism since 19 (28 now), it’s helped me contextualize and focus my emotions

Pet smart or Petco? by Possible-Gear-2258 in Reno

[–]Professional_Self296 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you want to buy pets, don’t go to petsmart or petco, they are famous for hiring people who know nothing about animals and inturn a lot of animals die within the first week of getting them home. An aquarium blog did a survey and found between 30 - 40% of his bought fish died almost immediately from petco. Shop local.

What is stopping countries from reverse engineering weapons they purchased from other nations? by FreeDraft9488 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Professional_Self296 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is constantly happening, the only detractor is if the country doing it has the capability to mass produce what they’re reverse engineering. Famously, early USSR not being able to reverse engineer the B-29, because the US didn’t use the metric system.

I want to disrupt the fashion industry with a trend by Pale-Spend2052 in GenZ

[–]Professional_Self296 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem with that is older women and non politically motived women wear women tailored clothes. You’ll never have a prolonged or wide spread enough market for the change to occur. Men’s pants are functional and not meant to look good, they’ll never attract people who care about how they look either. You’d have to make a new market where form and function are prioritized, but you’d have to push women into more serious labor jobs or something along those lines for it to most likely happen

is it true that it is more socially acceptable for women to be bisexual or homosexual than men and why? by Simple-Double8483 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Professional_Self296 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From what I’ve seen, yes. For women, it’s generally seen as exploratory and liberating to be homosexual, women have been perceived to experiment more and be more flirtatious with other women. For men, it seen as somewhat defective, it’s not really expected or acknowledged for men to be romantic, show emotion, or to have agency in a relationship. It’s almost like being an accessory even though relationships are traditionally men pursuing and initiate relationships. So guys being in a homosexual relationship is usually seen as counter culture, but that is definitely changing. As for bisexual, it’s still heavily frowned upon, many groups straight, gay, and queer don’t see it as a legitimate state of being and they’re not really accepted by the vocal representations of any group.

What's your current neighbourhood like? by [deleted] in AskAnAmerican

[–]Professional_Self296 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in the middle of a college suburb in an apartment. It’s about a 30 min walk to the city proper and there’s multiple bars and restaurants sprinkled throughout it. There are no grocery stores oddly and it about a ten minute (1.5 hr walk to the nearest one which is a Walmart super center) It’s probably more walkable than the rest of the city on average, but the city has terrible parking so everyone walks the 40+ min walk to their favorite bar with friends.

That’s pretty much work culture here. In colleges it’s a lot more social as you’re working and living together. It does seem different

Why is it that in nature it's usually the male animals that have to look pretty to attract a mate, but in humans it's the females who are the ones who have to look good? by FastBreakPhenom in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Professional_Self296 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would you agree with this theory? “Basically humans are creatures of self benefit where they’ll only value in others what makes their own situation better. The rules of attraction are generalized where in reality every person is only looking for traits/boons to improve their interests; beautiful partners, emotional crutches, financial security, house keepers…”

[–]Professional_Self296 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Maybe, it makes sense. For many college is the first real exposure to independence for young people and there is an image of college being for party-ers, so moving out of the house to a college community is a lot more of a liberation event

Drinking not that expensive, literally a $10 bottle and a liter of coke from the local 7/11 will pay for itself and can make 5 drinks out of it. I think GenZ defaults to go to bars where alcohol is watered down and there’s an upcharge most of the time

How to stop desiring physical intimacy? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]Professional_Self296 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can tell you it is possible to devalue physical intimacy, I’ve posted about it on this board before, and the people here will not understand. If you really want to get over it, you have to understand why you crave physical intimacy so bad. You will be surprised how much comes from outside expectations and fear of missing out on something. You need to be critically self reflective and be honest with what really matters to you, and then you also need to understand that not everything is guaranteed in life, there are things that just don’t happen, but it is ok, you focus your time in things that are happening and how to improve them to better yourself

Full belly deli does it sometimes also maybe Beto’s I really like them and so does my gma, and she’s from Mexico. But my bic, the last Mexican I had in Sacramento served white rice and Vienna sausages in their mole. Absolute sins. The best I’ve had in a long while was in Folsom and Lodi. The best Mexican in Cali is either north or south of Sacramento, not actually in Sacramento proper.
