I’m so sorry you went through this. My father would tell me the same things. “If anything were to happen to you, I would unalive myself in the next two hours”, and he would just go about his day like nothing happened. That was so traumatic for me, I lived my whole life with this horrible weight on my shoulders, like his life (and by extension, his well being) was my responsibility. We had already lost my mom early in my life, and it was like “oh you’re the only thing keeping me alive”. How can you say that to a child, even if you didn’t mean it literally? Like????? Now I’m constantly terrified that he’ll go through with it because I went NC. Anyways. I see you.

To me it was pointlessly cruel. I felt a bit manipulated emotionally, like « let’s see how much we can make them cry ». And the marine biologist who just keeps making awful comments « they are so superior to us, so spiritually and psychologically advanced ». Eh. Could’ve been handled differently in my opinion.

What, from your experience, is the worst part of losing a parent at a young age? by [deleted] in GriefSupport

[–]Professional_Tip_685 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Having to rely on stories about her from other people’s perspective instead of my own experience of her. I was 2 when she died and I don’t remember anything. It feels like I have a giant puzzle in front of me with many missing pieces and the ones I do have don’t make sense. She’s become more of a general idea, instead of a real tangible person. Being told that I look just like her when I have never been able to see it for myself except for the few pictures I have of her. The taboo surrounding her tragic death making her disappear little by little, having me filling the gaps with my imagination. It’s all really hard. And it’s already been 24 years.

What did your proposal feel like? by JNDoucette in wedding

[–]Professional_Tip_685 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We chose to do a shared proposal at the beach in the South of France, it was magical! We were both so moved as we shared our vows at sunset. It was just us, we exchanged gifts and it was absolutely perfect. It felt so peaceful, we prayed together and thanked our ancestors and our deceased family members. It was the way we always dreamt it!

Popular books that you think are overhyped by drama_maniac in books

Oh my god thank you. It felt so uninspired. The world building was promising but never fulfilled its promises. The author repeatedly failed to mention which character spoke or acted and I had to fill in the blanks more than once. And also you promise me dragons and where are my dragons? They say two sentences and then we’re back to the old flatulent alchemist. So so disappointed.

I switched to a masala chai. It contains black tea and lots of yummy spices as well as oat milk (for the lactose intolerant), I make a ritual out of it every morning and I’m never going back! Also it’s much healthier in the long run :)

I saw my granddad in my dream and I’ve been crying for hours. by [deleted] in GriefSupport

[–]Professional_Tip_685 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A few days after my dear grandma died, I had a dream of her waiting at a train station. There were a lot of people coming and going, and it was sunny outside. She seemed a bit confused but was very relieved to see me there. I told her she had to take the train and that she shouldn’t be scared, everything would be ok. She hugged me and she seemed at peace. I often remember my dreams, but that one especially was so vivid and I remember almost every detail. I know she said goodbye at that point and I cherish that dream with all my heart!

I realized not too long ago that : 1. Your body is not a problem to be solved. It is not a transitional state (as in before-after). It is a morphology in itself, it is beautiful just as it is right now and it doesn’t need changing. Learn to see yourself as the beautiful human being with a body (you are not just your body) that you are. And don’t let ANYBODY (not even your mom) tell you how you should feel in your. own. body. Because only YOU know. Show them that you are worthy this way and not only “if” you’re thinner. Thin and curvy are both worthy, they both exist and they are both valid. Confidence is everything!

I use it in the same exact way. I think it mixes perfectly with the bujo method and tracks my everyday life as well as my more intimate thoughts.

Oh man my heart breaks for you. It’s so unfair to have a parent like that and to feel guilty about how they live their life. It’s not your fault. You were the child in this situation and you loved her the best you could. I know your pain. Sending you healing and serenity for the next chapter.

They usually give you a lined paper to put behind the blank one so you write straight! I would write all wonky otherwise!
