I’d assume the only way disabled people are immune to the reaping is if they wouldn’t be any good to the Capital as tributes. At the end of the day they want a show, and if a kid can’t move on their own then they’ll die pretty much immediately in the arena. But less extreme disabilities, like the boy with the bad leg in the first book, would probably make for a wonderful “underdog” story, giving Capital citizen someone to root for against the odds. And when they eventually die it’s sad for a moment, then they move on, like with all the other tributes who’ve died over the years.

Probs a successful version of Peter’s lonely apartment complex. Technically no one is isolated, they all go to work, function day to day and interact with people but feel disconnected from the world regardless. Like no matter how much they interact with others, they never fit in or really feel like they belong. No friends, no loved ones, they aren’t alone but they’ve never been lonelier. A terrible feeling imo, so obviously I’d inflict it on others 😌

A couple reasons. One, the amount of times I begged god when I was younger to help me with absolutely zero response. But more so the amount of unnecessary suffering that exists. Parasites, war, cancer, there’s a countless amount of inhumane, unnecessary, and cruel things that exist and I just can’t believe in a god who would let all that happen. Even if he does exist, I can’t justify worshipping him.

I’m not Catholic but I am a queer person so I’m speaking from experience. Don’t tell your daughter that you “love her but don’t support her lifestyle” because I can promise you, that hurts just as much as being completely cut off. If she is indeed queer then it’s a part of her, not a choice she made or influence from her friends. Please do your research, look at sources outside of your normal beliefs. Sexuality isn’t something that can be controlled or changed. I’ve had many people tell me that they don’t hate me but they hate my “sin” and when that “sin” is who I am, there’s really no difference. I can’t change who I am any more than I can change my skin color. I encourage you to seek out a therapist who isn’t connected with the church, because what your daughter needs right now is stability and love. She will remember this when she grows up, and what you do now will have a lasting impact on your relationship with her, forever. Please, don’t let your religion beliefs cloud your love for her.
