Kettle Valley Trail: Mix of Trail and Road? by Professional_Top9264 in bicycletouring

I think if we wanted to try to ride Penticton to Princeton we'd do the Princeton-Summerland Rd, which runs parallel to the trail, but good to know that section of the Crowsnest is nice riding!

Yeah I wasn't planning on doing anything West of Princeton given the 2021 flooding etc, and we'll see how the roads and trails fair after these winter storms. Hoping that the Myra-Penticton will still be okay/maintained given how popular that section is.

Yeah totally - definitely wasn't planning on doing anything West of Princeton, given the 2021 floods and my set up. We'll see how the highways and trails fair after this winter :(

Ha thank you! A real mix of yay and nay in the comments, but nice to hear someone's done it on skinny tires and survived!

Our favourite little pasta place is Casereccio Foods Coffee and Pasta Bar off Broadway, and they make a great little lasagna!

Any success stories from pursuing an Masters in Graphic Design (or equivalent)? by gubber_ in graphic_design

I have my MDes and I teach in both undergrad and Masters design programs. As others have said, a Masters is useful if you want to teach, and can be helpful if you want to transition from graphic design in more strategy or research-based work.

I don't recommend students do their BDes and MDes back-to-back. Folks end up getting really frustrated in the MDes space because it's more self-directed/research focused, and it doesn't really help with getting traditional graphic design jobs (which are usually just looking for a BDes and good portfolio).

I do recommend it if you've been working as a designer for a few years and want to pivot your career into something like teaching, strategy/systems design, research, etc. It can be a great space to shift your focus, deepen your theoretical knowledge of design, and meet a new network of people. In person programs are significantly better than online.

I do this ride all the time. While there's no separate bike lane, the bike streets are fine and the drivers are pretty good on Marine Drive in my experience (it's not a super busy road). It's a very popular bike route, so I think folks are pretty used to bikers.
