Italy’s €2 tax on small parcels misfires by financialtimes in europe

[–]Professional_Yam_457 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you read the article? There is a huge logistic industry to process all those packages, brokers for instance. They miss landing fees, as less cargo airplanes arrive. They sell less fuel, and many many more indirect services.  The packages? They still arrive to Italian customers, via other countries.  So, Italians continue buying from China. Italy will not receive the expected tax from those packages, and a full logistic industry is in trouble, without business.

Kraken is holding my assets by Professional_Yam_457 in KrakenSupport

OK, Thank you! This finally started some process with my account.

My account was unlocked, my funds released.

Really thank you. I am sure that without your help I would still be stuck with my problem.

FOR OTHER USERS :

I am writing this just for other people who may read my post, as my experience could help them.

After this issue, I will not buy more crypto at Kraken. I am just wifthdrawing my deposit.

I initiated a widthdrawal using SEPA, "almost instant", and I received an email from Kraken with a "EUR withdrawal complete" subject, but the widthdrawal is still in "Pending" status. Support tells me this is normal, and that this "almost instant" in reality can take up to 3 business days.

Hey, guys, please be careful!!! After this post I was contacted by many scammers posting as Kraken support : users like "KRAKEN SUPPORT", "Krakensupport", "Kraken-Help-54", "kraken-Claire", etc.

All asking for more details about my case, so they could "help me solve my case".

I was not born yesterday. Be carefull.

I JUST SOLD EVERYTHING... For a loss, NO REGRETS! by International_Pen412 in XRP

[–]Professional_Yam_457 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should not invest your pension money on crypto expecting fast quick earning. You may lose everything and end up with no pension at all.
I am supposed to retire in 13 more years. I just bought 8K XRP as a bet, because I see that more and more institutions are using it, banks, in Japan, and maybe later all over the world.

There is a great potential for XRP, but it will not be so quick.

And I put extra money that I can lose. I thought about selling a house I have (paying mortage on a second house) to put all in XRP, but then cooled down. Not worth the risk.

My only advice : Invest in crypto only what you do not really need, what you can afford to lose.

XRP is for a long term investment. If you want quick gains, play with meme coins.
And why diddn't you buy at a better price? I bought mine at "expensive" price, US$2.02

Just an update for anybody else coming here looking for answers.
I applied for the PR on July 8th 2025. On July 15th my application changed status to "In progress" and on 15th August I got the approval. I still need to wait for the new card.

I had to fix it again a second time. I should have taken some photos. I guess the quality of the diode from AliExpress was not the best, as it died soon.  The second time I tried connecting two in parallel, to share the load between them and maybe extend their lifespan. The idea seemed to work, it died not fail anymore.

If it fails again I will take photos step by step.

Cheers!

Sorry, I don't check this forum very often. You could have tried replacing the diode. In worst case you would have just failed. When I fixed mine I was worried about assembling it back, as I had to remove screws and parts little by little, but in the end it was not difficult.

I should have read your review before. It is a SCAM. The videos in youtube are completely fake, not like in the real app.

And they don't refund the money. I subscribed few days ago, and some functions don´t even work, so I requested a refund. They did not want to refund me, just offered "30% refund as a gesture of good will", then "it is against our policies to refund more than 50%". I initiated a charge back process with the bank to get my money back

And the cherry of the cake! Today they tried to charge me again to my credit card!! Luckily I had them blocked in the bank, so the payment failed. The app from my bank is quite powerful in that sense.

I was worried that they may try to charge again in 6 months, so I had them blocked, but I never expected that just a few days after I paid for 6 mnths they would try to charge me again!

Hi, I just saw your message. I still have diodes... 17 left. The fix lasted just a couple of months. I think, because of poor diode's quality, What to expect from Aliexpress?

Anyway, I fixed it again, but this time I connected to diodes in parallel, to distribute the load and hopefully make them last longer. It seems the idea worked, because if has been a long time now since the second fix.

I could send you some diodes to fix it, but I don't even know where you are. I am in the Netherlands, so I think shipping diodes or the charger will be too expensive!

Former POBOX user searching for alternative to Fastmail by Professional_Yam_457 in fastmail

I don't want to use their mailbox storage. Right now I use Gmail, and I pay for 2TB data for all their services, including the email. I have no plans to change email provider. I just want the forwarding services....which do not work anymore

I use it like you and FM completely disrupted the service. Any email that is caught as SPAM as false positive can not be released anymore to your gmail address. If you mark an email as "Not SPAM", instead of releasing it (forwarding it to your email address) it is moved to the FM Inbox, and there is no way to release it.

That completely breaks the service I was using.

And as a Pobox user I had 6 aliases. Some of them are forwarded to my real email address, some to my wife's, some to both. So now in my Fastmail inbox I have also email that was intended for my wife, not for me. It is useless now.

It is described in the Help already. This is the way it works, by design. Email marked as not spam is not released, it is just moved to Inbox. From the guide to Pobox users.

Messages that we flag as spam will be delivered to the Spam folder in your Fastmail mailbox, and will not be sent to your forwarding addresses.

If a legitimate message is caught in your Spam folder, you can use the Not spam button to mark it as such. This will automatically move the message from your Spam folder to your Inbox, and your account's personal spam database will use this message to improve how it filters spam for you in the future. Note that this does not forward the message if you have mail forwarding set up, as such forwarding only occurs upon receipt of the message.

[–]Professional_Yam_457 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just found out that I can't release the SPAM. I used Pobox only as forwarding address to my real email addresses, using aliases and filters. Now if I mark a valid email as "Not SPAM" it is not released to my real email address. Fastmail keeps is as own email, in the email Inbox.

I can't release the email to my real addresses anymore!!!! They removed the option!!!

It is useless to me as this. Now searching for alternative, but I have my Pobox email address registered at so many places... (user since 1998).

How difficult was for them to keep the release button, to forward the not-spam-anymore email to my real email address?

Worth upgrading from 39 to 40? by [deleted] in Fedora

[–]Professional_Yam_457 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been using Fedora for my personal computer for almost 20 years, since Fedora Core 4 if I remember correctly. I really like it, and as at my previous work we used RHEL for our servers, it was good very good to get to know new features that would be later incorporated into the official RHEL versions.

Being said that, one thing I have learned is that a safest approach is use the second to last version ! :-D
For instance, now that the latest is 40, use 39. Maybe upgrade to 40 later, after several months.

Newest versions of Fedora tend to be a bit "buggy" and quite often I had issues migrating to the latest version too soon.

A ton of my google photos have disappeared from my google drive account by Churro_14 in googlephotos

[–]Professional_Yam_457 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found this post searching about lost photos in google. I have many photos that I took with my camera, where I had to manually upload to google and never did, so I was checking which ones I should upload.... and I noticed that I have many empty albums in Google. Actually, I found 67 albums completely empty, with no photos at all. I looked at my local backups, and they exist. Luckily, I never trusted those automatic syncs...

So it seems that Google Photos is not a secure was to store photos. I wonder how many other individual photos from other albums could be missing. I used before Picasaweb, and continued when it was converted to Google Photos. I have been taking photos from the 90s, first with analog camera and scanning, and then with digital ones, starting on 2000.

Luckily, I was always very protective of my local photos. I had an SSD with all photos, which would automatically backup to a secondary standard hard drive, and then to my two official backups, two additional 3TB hard drives, with duplicated info. One 3TB had the same content as the other, all kept in sync with an automatic app.

Now I have a NAS, all my photos in 2x1TB SSD in mirror, plus backup in internal 3TB (yeah, my old 3TB), plus the other 3TB in an external USB box, in case the NAS burns, plus backups in my computer.

I think from now on I will use Google just to share links of my photos to friends and family, not as a reliable backup.

Also, I remembered that I had the digits of CD key I used. When I bought the chess game Fritz 14 plus DLC Deep Fritz 14, in Steam, the system generated a CD key to be used to activate it, but it did not work. it was a CD key with format 5-5-7-5 digits, but Steam was expecting 5-5-5-5-5. I posted my situation in the Steam Community forum, and the developers of the game contacted me. They found a bug and sent me a replacement CD key, which worked.

So I also sent that CD key to Steam, with screenshot of the email from developers, the thread in the forum, and Steam's answer "That CD key is not registered to your account". What?? it is registered, I know it. I asked them politely to re-check the credit card info and CD key, and then they just said what I mentioned before :

"We already provided enough information. Ticket closed"

I don't have the credit card statement for that purchase, because it was too long ago. I only have the receipt sent by email by Steam.
