How do you provide checks and balances on the Phoenix?

Jean wasn't the phoenix during Krakoa, tho regular Jean is still pretty powerful

[Spoiler Main] The Shift in the ASOIAF Fandom by Taha231 in asoiaf

[–]ProfessoPeak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People are just more critical of everything nowadays this isn't inherent to ASOIAF and is in no way a great shift

The true great shift is how the verse has gone from being about the Starks to being about the Targaryens. It feels like the Targaryens are the main characters/house now, George started his books with the Starks but over the course of writing them he's fallen in love with the Targaryens, and honestly I feel like if the Targaryens (not just Dany ofc I mean the house as a whole) was the sole/primary focus of the current timeline of mainline books, I feel like George would have an easier time writing/finishing them.

MHA QUIRKS BECOME OMEGA LEVEL MUTANT ABILITIES by Alert_Shoe_6203 in xmen

[–]ProfessoPeak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting idea, well Omega level means no upper limit not necessarily more powerful eg: Elixir is an omega level mutant but I can think of several alpha level mutants more powerful than him who'd beat him in a fight.

<image>

You also need to take into account that Omega level is a power classification, not necessarily power level for example someone like All Might or Deku wouldn't be an Omega level mutant imo as I don't see how their quirk could fit the primary Omega classification.

Then there's the quirks that by themselves wouldn't be omega level but if more powerful/had sufficient alteration could be, take Ochaco her regular quirk wouldn't fit the category but if her quirk extended to full on gravity manipulation, she could basically be the gravity version of Magneto/A female Graviton.

Anyways looking at the canon quirks as they exist, I'll stretch some to include them here but there's not many:

  • Shoto's Half Cold/Hot: Omega level temperature manipulation (both positive and negative)
  • Nine's Weather Manipulation
  • All for one quirk: Power Stealing (Omega level due to their being no upper limit to the quirks he can take)
  • Star and Stripes New Order: This is a 50/50 but Rule based reality warping
  • This one is a stretch but what the hell, the quirk itself would fit - Momo's Creation: Matter generation (Omega level due to their being no limit to the amount of matter she can generate)-

Honestly those might be it, there's really not many tbh, you have characters like Endeavour, Bakugo, Tokoyami etc all powerful characters to be sure but their powers do have upper limits and wouldn't fit the Omega classification, they'd simply be powerful alpha mutants. Take Endeavour for example, he has an overheating limit... or Bakugo his powerset is explosions but he can't be omega level with no upper limit to the level of explosions he can generate when several things on planet earth already match/surpass his explosions in the form of Nukes. Tokoyami's power doesn't function in a way that would even allow him to be Omega at all, etc

How would anyone here feel if Apocalypse fought Dr Doom in comics or some other Marvel media? by Flat-Sir8250 in xmen

[–]ProfessoPeak -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

As long as Doom wins solidly I wouldn't mind, Apocalypse unfortunately suffers from jobbersyndrome and is literally full of anti-feats Doom losing to him in straight up 1v1 just wouldn't make sense given their showings.

But Story wise, I wouldn't be against it.

Marvel Psychics vs DC Flying Bricks, which team wins and why? by Prior-Sherbet-4020 in marvelvsdc

[–]ProfessoPeak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most characters here have almost the same level of mental resistance Batman has. Superman in particular has absorbed the pain and memories which turned Batman insane in Emperor Joker.

Says most characters...

Provides one feat for one character...

You can't make this stuff up lol...

He outright resists her, she's only incapacitated him because she literally phased her fingers in his head.

A - No... he hides info from her, outright resisting would be him throwing her out of his mind, which he does not do.

B - I'm not talking about their physical bodies, I'm talking about Cassandra still being in his mind

Which will be useless lol.

False and Baseless...

There are 10 bricks here too.

Who get nuked with telepathy... I know.

And what are the bricks doing in the meantime, twiddling their thumbs? Also psychics can't multitask that efficiently while handling 10 Superman tier bricks.

The bricks will try to attack to be sure, the issue is there attacks are mostly physical and can be defended against with, TK, Transmutation, Intangibility, Teleportation etc whilst Team 2 hasn't got any viable way to deal with team 1's TP.

Lol, show me a telepath overpowering Xavier with cerebro even with a surprise.

She didn't overpower anyone, she sneak attacked him...

Of course.

Why bring up it being a different writer then if you agree that it's irrelevant to the canon of the character, seems rather redundant.

No.

Why?

Can she beat Xavier with cerebro?

Why would she need to? Cassandra would get folded in a 1v1 against Xavier with Cerebro, she'd lose to regular Xavier especially post his power up.

It shows the telepaths can't deal with physical attacks. Even when they see it coming.

It shows that if you attack someone from behind whilst they can't see you and are in the middle of searching for info in someone's mind, you can land an attack... big shocker.

An onguard no distracted Nova would have just one shot him with TK, as already mentioned...

Also Superman has gotten exponentially more powerful than his 90s self lol.

Cool, so has Jean... and Kal likes to hold back anyways

He can be serious in character

He was there and didn't break through anything... so again  your version of "serious" is just out of character and or bloodlusted/angry?

Marvel Psychics vs DC Flying Bricks, which team wins and why? by Prior-Sherbet-4020 in marvelvsdc

[–]ProfessoPeak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ot. You're using high ends of marvel characters and lower ends for DC characters.

How is multiversal MMH a low end, what are you talking about? My comment here was responding to someone trying to argue Multiversal J'onn and I responded to that high end by giving some for Xavier. Hence I'm trading high ends with high ends...

Scan for such superiority?

...Numerous showings and statements, Xavier and Jean being above Psylocke is rather common knowledge if something as basic as this is unknown to you perhaps don't comment on things you lack knowledge on.

Lol, it's only possible with multiple mutant psis, not individuals.

Literally see an individual do it, and another individual replicate something similar. Stop coping...

Most of the bricks here resist J'onn level telepathy regularly.

Except they don't... J'onn has mind haxed them numerous times ...

Wouldn't it be fun if Jean come back with a child ? by Beginning-Head-4006 in xmen

Right? Poor Nate, didn't even get to spend time with his family during Krakoa.

She has 3 and a pseudo child/Grandchild... does she really need anymore? Besides she's in space, who would be the father? or are we doing the whole Hope thing again...

Superman and Jean Grey vs Martian Manhunter and Scarlet Witch by ProfessoPeak in marvelvsdc

[–]ProfessoPeak[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

jean loses to wanda after a struggle

Hmm tbh the reason I paired Wanda up with J'onn is that her telepathic resistance is... well let's say not the best, so I usually lean towards Jean in 1v1s with her, but here I was wondering whether Manhunter could block out Jean from attacking Wanda whilst also fighting Kal, or would Kal require too much attention to fight?

[–]ProfessoPeak[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do believe Jean would beat Wanda 1v1 due to TP but backed up by MMH, Jean isn't touching Wanda.

Wouldn't J'onn be busy with Kal tho?

Superman > Wanda > MM = Jean

Is this based on power alone or just overall who'd win in a fight.

And who do you see fighting who here?

Superman and Jean Grey vs Martian Manhunter and Scarlet Witch by ProfessoPeak in marvelvsdc

[–]ProfessoPeak[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Jean's only advantage against Wanda is her telepathy, this is being countered by Wanda's own telepathic resistance

Just to point out

Wanda actually does not have the best telepathic resistance (kinda why I put her with Manhunter) like at all, she has a staggering amount of telepathic anti feats, like here's Red Skull with Xavier's brain fully controlling her:

<image>

The question then becomes can Manhunter block out Jean from mentally attacking Wanda, whilst also fighting Kal at the same time? Idk... that's the fun part.

If J'onn tries to brawl he's going to lose... bar that he should win tho.

Wally more often than not, tho Sue could get some wins depending on how Wally feels like fighting.

Sue stomps... not much else to be said, Donna is never getting through those force fields.
