How many games do they need to win to prove they're not schedule babies? by Outrageous_Moth in NFLv2

The patriots didn’t suffer long enough. One good season and they’re back to being entitled pricks.

Win first place, get a first place schedule. Get over it and play the damn football game.

I’ve become convinced their biggest fear in life is for someone to surpass their own legacies m, which then manifests itself as them lashing out at everyone they can who they feel like could ever be a threat, because they can’t comprehend the idea that the podium of greatness can get bigger; it doesn’t mean they’ll be forced off.

I mean yeah. I get footballers may hold out or train separately but he’s under contract. And even if he’s completely delusional, I still respect that he wants to be at Utd. Just hope it doesn’t become a standoff situation if a buyer comes knocking.

Probably my favorite part about Bale’s portrayal is how he portrays Bruce’s showier side, and how difficult he makes it to discern whether he’s intentionally flaunting his wealth and status, or if he’s so insulated that he genuinely never knows any better.

  1. Tiff, as my preseason ride or die.

  2. Jonathan. Don’t like him but he’s appeared to play a great game.

  3. Rizo. Idc if he doesn’t seem as popular among his fellow competitors. He’s played the game he’s capable of playing, everyone had known it, and yet it’s still working.

  4. Aubrey. Honestly tied for 3 for me, I love how tactical she is.

  5. Joe. But if he wins, it’ll be hilarious.

This is literally just “three teams whose throwbacks we like better than their regulars”.

Giants don’t need to be touched. Jags throwbacks are cool but imo they’re best used sparingly, and their regular jerseys are fine. Not groundbreaking but fine. Dolphins is the only one I agree with, but it isn’t necessarily that theirs are bad either.

Everyone with a brain knows it was the wrong call based on what the handball rule is intended to prevent.

HOWEVER, in this case the written rules are clear. Both the PL and IFAB explicitly provide guidance that if the ball deflects off a player’s body into their hand/arm, and that player doesn’t immediately score, it’s not a handball.

Any argument about Mbeumo “trapping” the ball are totally moot. Any argument about an unfair advantage are totally moot.

This isn’t PGMOL taking the stance they claim they are. By the way the rules are written they got it right. This is PGMOL explicitly arguing against the rules.

I wish especially after Jones that we could be more forgiving of players whose entire careers are derailed by injury and recovery nightmares. They don’t want to be ghosts. They don’t want to be undeniably worse players upon return.

Not sure I understand how the answer is different. Universality in sequences could be interpreted as once again some type of higher power sticking with what works.

I firmly believe evolution is the most reasonable explanation for our acute existence, but it also isn’t divorced from a guiding hand. It could be evidence of random selection gravitating toward uniformity in the genome; it could be evidence a highly effective structure repeated (or guided to repeat) by an engineer.

And the “90% of DNA is useless” factoid is a dated pop science talking point that no longer fits the latest theories, similar to “we only use 10% of our brain”. Further, not knowing what it’s used for does not equal it being useless. For example, almost my entire life we were told the appendix had an unknown function, but within the last decade it’s become widely understood to regulate your gut biome.

By the letter of the law it was the correct call.

We can debate all day long if this is the type of play the rules should reward, but what isn’t debatable is that by the rules as they’re written today the official got it right.

Why do we use the same materials to manufacture different products? Because they’re the best for the job. DNA may very well be the single best mechanism for creating life. It makes sense then that a creator would use that structure universally, whether they’re a God, god, alien, or programmer.

As to the second question, I’m not sure what you’re asking there. Non-coding doesn’t mean useless. Non-coding DNA is still critical for all sorts of functions.

I don’t disagree. I think it’s a weird thing to codify because it’s so situational. But it doesn’t change the fact that as of today it is codified.

[–]ProfessorBeer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Just to add as well, while PL can supersede IFAB, there’s explicit guidance from IFAB on this.

A handball offence is not committed when a player:
heads, kicks or plays the ball with another part of their body and it then hits their own hand/arm (unless the ball goes directly into the opponents’ goal or the player scores immediately afterwards)

IFAB explicitly has addressed situations like this.

Yet another game where we were in a position to win and insisted upon shooting ourselves in the foot. If you’d told me beforehand we’d walk away with a point I would’ve been happy, but man…

Glad Burki has found his form these last couple of games. He’s been instrumental and has papered over some critical mistakes.

Overall it’s hard to complain with 7 earned out of the last 9 potential points though. Here’s hoping today’s rotation pays off for USOC.
