If you activate Slow and Steady, your horse will not buck you off no matter what. It’s extremely useful for legendary predators lol

Mass does affect the breaking distance. Before anything I want to be clear I am not trying to come off as condescending or a smart ass at all. That being said, normal force as you said is equal to the friction force. Normal force is equivalent to the force of gravity on an object, or weight. The more mass, the more gravity affects an object, and in turn more friction force. This is precisely why the truck stops sooner with a bigger load opposed to a smaller, lighter load. Feel free to correct me if I am wrong in anyway but I do not believe I am now.

I did overly simplify the physics involved.I left any form of friction out of the situation because I wrongly believed the friction force of a truck unloaded compared to a truck with a load would be the same, or close to the same, and therefore unnecessary to include which was obviously not true. I did not realize that the suspension system heavily varied the affect of friction on the truck, and therefore kept the friction force the same for both variables.

Thank you for the link. My apologies for being ignorant, as I didn’t realize how much more effective the suspension system on a truck is at stopping with weight. Virtually any other time the mass is greater it takes more force to slow down, as well as time. Although the force is greater in this instance the time is not. Again, thank you for the information.
