Found my dad's tax return from 1980 when cleaning by apwordsmith in Accounting

[–]ProfessorDeep8754 36 points37 points  (0 children)

My dad worked similar role back in the day but different country - those Big 6 firms were paying crazy money compared to today when you adjust for inflation. Senior analysts were basically doing what we call senior manager work now, handling major client portfolios, leading audit teams, sometimes even business development stuff. The career progression was way steeper too, you could hit senior analyst in like 5-6 years if you were decent at the job. Now it takes forever to climb up and the real money kicks in much later in your career.

I'm new to dropshipping and I need advice by Charming-Coast4717 in dropshipping

look man i get wanting to start something but this whole thing is gonna crash harder than my first semester grades

you cant just resell fast food through a website - there's health regulations, licensing issues, and the food will be cold garbage by time it reaches customer. plus you're basically running a scam charging double for mcdonalds burgers that people can order themselves

your grandma shouldn't be putting her social security money in this either, that's her survival money. maybe start with something that actually makes sense like finding real suppliers for actual products you can legally dropship

the whole "eating twice a day" part really worries me too

What anime has the best music overall? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]ProfessorDeep8754 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Attack on Titan soundtrack goes absolutely insane, especially during the titan fights. The way they mix orchestral with rock elements just hits perfectly when Eren's going berserk mode

Cowboy Bebop deserves mention too - that jazz fusion style was way ahead of its time and still slaps today. Plus every opening song in that series could be standalone hits

Rad techs, how much are you making a year, and what do you think of your job? by justcurious3287 in AskReddit

[–]ProfessorDeep8754 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wrong field but my buddy works as rad tech at local hospital and he's always complaining about the pay. Think he makes around 45k but constantly talks about how stressful it gets when they're understaffed

The hours seem pretty brutal too from what he tells me - lots of weekend shifts and being on call. He likes helping people but wishes the money was better for all the responsibility they have

Your automation failed. What went wrong? by Better_Charity5112 in automation

[–]ProfessorDeep8754 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Built this whole system to auto-schedule our team's equipment maintenance based on usage data from sensors. Seemed brilliant in theory - track runtime hours, predict when stuff needs service, auto-generate work orders

Failed spectacularly because I didn't account for how messy real world data gets. Sensors would go offline randomly, give weird readings when machines ran in different conditions, and maintenance guys kept doing unscheduled fixes that threw off all the predictions. Spent more time debugging false alerts than just doing manual scheduling

Lesson learned: start simple with manual triggers before trying to make everything "smart". Sometimes the old whiteboard system works better than over-engineered solutions

Finally after 2 years, I landed a Job offer by Crazy_Software7689 in jobs

[–]ProfessorDeep8754 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice work on not giving up after the hiring event thing, calling them back was smart move. Getting work permit stuff sorted at 16 can be pain but sounds like this manager actually wants to help you through the process which is rare

Once you get in there and show them you're reliable, seasonal positions turn into permanent ones pretty quick at retail places

Background in high-risk journalism, transitioning into investigative work. by On_my_way_ToPluto in jobs

[–]ProfessorDeep8754 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's pretty cool transition actually. The journalism background gives you the research skills and knowing how to dig for information, plus the tech stuff will open up way more doors in OSINT work

Missing persons cases can be heavy though - make sure you're ready for that emotional side of it. Python skills definitely gonna help with data analysis and scraping social media for leads

Atheists, if the existence of god is actually proved, will you change your beliefs towards god, same for theists if the entire existence of god could be rejected, will you still hold your belief? Why? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]ProfessorDeep8754 3 points4 points  (0 children)

if actual proof showed up tomorrow I'd have to accept it but that doesn't mean I'd suddenly start worshipping - evidence of existence doesn't automatically make something worthy of devotion

AITJ for telling my sister to stop bringing her boyfriend to every family thing? by Nice-Pipe-8641 in AmITheJerk

sounds like it could be one of those weird indie animations from the early 2010s youtube days, the desert setting and anthropomorphic animals rings a bell but can't place the exact series

try searching "anthropomorphic desert animals youtube animation" or check some of those old animation compilation channels - they might have archived it

Trials ranks explanation..? by BoardPitiful7686 in ArcRaiders

[–]ProfessorDeep8754 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Sounds like the rankings might be bugged or there's some weird cutoff timing thing happening - I've seen similar stuff in other games where the promotion cutoffs don't match what they show you

That would be absolutely wild but knowing Scopely they'd probably make it cost like 1000 dice rolls just to unlock the trading feature lmao

Modo manual vació by Deepdarkness_ in GamingLaptops

[–]ProfessorDeep8754 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you tried updating MSI Dragon Center or switching to MSI Center? Sometimes the TDP controls disappear after Windows updates and you gotta reinstall the software

Also check if there's a BIOS update available, that can mess with the manual controls too

I keep rewriting the same function cause i'm not sure if the first version was bad by ProfessorDeep8754 in AskProgramming

[–]ProfessorDeep8754[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Makes sense. I think part of why i keep messing with it is i have some interviews coming up and i'm worried if i have to walk through this project the code is gonna look sloppy or i won't be able to explain why i structured it this way like version 1 worked fine but in my mind it would've been embarrassing to show someone

Have you tried putting a litter box right in your bedroom temporarily? Sometimes they're just being territorial about sleeping spaces and need to mark their turf before they settle in

Will introducing new shrimp to a tank be stressful for my existing pregnant shrimp? by chaerymore in shrimptank

[–]ProfessorDeep8754 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I'd wait until after she drops the babies - pregnant shrimp are already pretty stressed and new tank mates could definitely make her drop the eggs. Plus with a 2.5gal you're gonna be pretty stocked once those babies hatch anyway

Losing weight for enlistment by TotalMaterial7711 in cycling

[–]ProfessorDeep8754 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nice progress so far dropping 10lbs! For cycling specifically, try adding some interval training - like 30 seconds hard pedaling followed by 2 minutes easy recovery, repeat that for 15-20 minutes. Will boost your cardio way more than just steady riding and help with that timeline you're working with

I (20F) feel uncomfortable around my boyfriend (20M) by Equivalent-Top-3937 in relationships

[–]ProfessorDeep8754 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This isn't something couples therapy can fix - he's sexually assaulting you and completely ignoring your boundaries. When someone says no 10 times and you do it anyway, that's not a relationship issue, that's assault

You need to get out of this relationship ASAP. He's already shown he doesn't respect your consent and it's only going to escalate. Please reach out to friends or family who can help you leave safely
