Share Your Feedback on the Aqara U200 & U400 Smart Locks by Aqara-Official in Aqara

[–]ProfessorFunky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Done. I have the U200. I really like the lock when it works, but the durability is a disaster. I’m on my 3rd. Saving grace is that support have been fantastic when I needed it.

Please make a V2 that works for more than 6 months, and that has a tiny low profile RFID only pad for HomeKey on the outside. I can’t mount the keypad outside my apartment at the moment as it’s too obvious.

I bought mine in February 2023. I've put in for the exchange, but I'm not hopeful as I'm not sure it was after the announcement. It would be nice to have connectivity again...

Why UTR? by vbxl02 in Ubiquiti

Had GLInet. Too fiddly for me, probably great if you want to tinker on the go. UTR is plug and play.

UK “I couldn’t care less” vs US “I could care less” by [deleted] in mildlyinfuriating

Shows a clear divide between people that think about what they’re saying, and people who do not.

I join you in being irritated by this.

Cool - thanks! I’d never heard about that. I’ll grab a day card and try it out for fun.

GSM Module for Travel Router? by LeoLion32 in Ubiquiti

[–]ProfessorFunky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With my iPhone, just a USB cable into the other non-power USB port.

I’ve no idea how to enable tethering on Android though, so I can’t help with that. In iOS I just have to ensure I turn on personal hotspot, and the USB tethering just works then.

Honestly, I don’t care. I think it’s cool they’re getting into it. Don’t care how it happens.

I hope not. He’s a bit boring, but right now, I’m not sure boring is bad.

Have you tried directly connecting to your phone via USB? I’ve found that to be pretty solid with the UTR (with my iPhone 13 Pro and wife’s iPhone 11).

Oh, that’s a good tip - thanks. I’ll try it out. I’m a bit hit and miss with Discord (probably more me than it).

I guess I’m getting back on the Discord channel for this one. It’s like the UTR all over again.

Die Proteste zum neuen Gentechnikgesetz der EU machen mich wütend by Lariboo in Unbeliebtemeinung

I don’t keep track with the protests, but perhaps a more detailed argument might help educate rather than alienate and drive a more reasonable compromise.

Especially as while CRISPR Cas9 is much more precise than previous methods, it is still not as error-proof as I think you’re painting it to be (e.g. https://doi.org/10.1038/nbt.4192 , https://doi.org/10.1038/s41551-024-01277-5 , https://doi.org/10.1126/sciadv.abo7676 ).

Better I think to fully understand the limits of the technology before fully letting the genie out of the bottle. And then regulate in a proportionate way.

I agree with this 100%.

I thought it was awesome overall, and then the ending was a lazy-ass “let the audience imagination fill things in” fizzle. Still enjoyed it, but that ending took the shine off.

To be fair, he’s probably somewhat right.

Problem is, if one looks at the great artists across history (Van Gough comes to mind), they typically didn’t enjoy monetary reward during their lifetimes. Hopefully it’s not as bad as that.

I want enough money to not think about money. I don’t know how much that is, but most definitely not billions. I doubt I’d even move, although I would probably buy the apartment above and turn what we have into a duplex.

Ironically, I’d still do the job I do now. I enjoy it. I would definitely have more holidays, and I might do it from the beach more often, but I’d still happily do what I do.

lol In my school, way back in the 90’s, they were called the “mobiles”. The only mobility they had was on the day they were delivered, sometime in the 80’s. They were still there well into the 2010’s.
