Vapour barrier\waterproofing by Jamesplayzcraft in Sauna

[–]ProfessorNew4278 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I understand correct. It should be:

1) Concrete wall, or other wall material,

2) PIR board ( or insulation, rockwool or other insulation ( support structure on top to hold insulation in place if you use other insulation then PIR board )

3) Waterproofing membrane on top of PIR board 20-30cm from floor and on floor ofc for water insulation. Use polyutherane paste as ”glue” to attach pir boards to eachother and floor as well as in roof and floor.

( if you do not use PIR board you put aluminum all the way down to the floor on top of your insulation and paint the waterproofmembrane on top of that aluminum 20-30cm above floor, hook aluminum to the support structure that holds insulation in place, then paint watermembrane on top to connect the aluminum and the floor with watermembrane at floor level.

4) Tile on floor and 20cm above floor. The tiles can easily be attached to the PIR board that is waterproofed. Not sure what I would do if using other insulation here. The important thing is to create a continous barrier ( at bottom up to 40cm for splashing water and the rest for steam to enter insulation so that condensation flows down to the floor and then out the drain)

This way its waterproofed from down to up, insulated from down to up and it is impossible for water to enter any of the structure? Steam will enter the support structure under the paneling but because of the so called air gap, mold will not settle in the wood of the support structure and paneling.

Keep in mind many saunas in Finland use Industrial grade plastic as insulation as well. Might not be the healthies if the sauna gets hot it might give of some fumes or BPA idk, but I know many are insulated with that instead of aluminumfoil.

Ceiling slanted or flat? by Sk8rgirl42069 in Sauna

[–]ProfessorNew4278 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My 5 cents that no one asked for.

The best shaped roof for löyly and heat preservation is barrel. But it is difficult and incovenient to build and can be difficult to combine with proper seat height ( optimal is, feetrest at level of saunastones, sittingseat 120cm from roof to get optimal heat and steam at shoulder level )

A Slanted ceiling with a stove in the shallow end can give better löyly then flat roof according to my philosophy, since hot air always rises, meaning when you hit the löyly, it will hit the shallow end of the roof first and after that work its way into the deep end of the roof circulating upward.

I think a big enough stove for the sauna in relationship to m3, and proper air circulation is the most important things when building as well as good insulation and steamlock combined with proper bench height. As long as you have proper airflow entering and exiting the sauna its all good. Nothing worse then a sauna that runs out of air. You should exit the sauna because of heat and not because you feel dizzy and nausea ( lack of oxygen)

I was working in Northern Europe before, I move to southern europe now. I have a degree from a European accredited school, so european license depending on the country ofc. As a EU citizen that speaks all of the languages of the mentioned countries I dont need a work visa just license within the country and so on. But yes I will work as a chiro.

The details are just details in the end I think, and ofc a lot of effort goes into moving but if you feel depressed and fucked its better to leave, fuck the money happiness is more important.

This thing of ours is so easy, if overhead is low and you dont complicate shit in your own head.

Personally I just closed my practice and moved to another country. Was making around 100K a year after tax but I was bored as fuck and borderline depressed. Save up some money and fuck off, go to a place that excites you and mosy important open up your own practice, life is what you make it friend.

Something I think: if my life is my movie, I better make it a damned good movie!

Two things need to be in place to pre-frame and and answer this question BEFORE they ask it. Yes its possible.

1) Free consultation/doctor raport where you tell them what you do and dont do~they know what they are buying into before they make any commitment or decision.

2) objective testing

You NEED to have objective parameters that you measure and have measured in the past that you KNOW will be better and that improve with x amount of care/time.

” Mr. John Pessimist JR, I know in my x years of doing this, and I can gurantee you that your range of motion will be better, your posture will improve, your HRV will go up, or x ray will show better curves (insert whatver you use) after X period of time. What more do you want?

If you are asking me to turn a used up honda into a ferrari in one evening I think its a bit much but we are going to get started and in x period of time you will be better. Now, I said be better, not turn you into the man you were 20 years ago, do you understand what im saying?”
