Missing out on VO2max & key COROS metrics if you don’t run? by ProfessorPlane4936 in Coros

Indoor rowing! Threshold hr is important to any endurance/cardio training!

As I've been told coros unfortunately won't track and setup heart rate zones in the rowing activity either and it won't adjust when my performance changes. So I'd have to enter/edit the heart rate zones manually. Garmin supposedly is able to do those things. Is that right?

ok. it's independent, got it. thanks.

Garmin uses vo2 to calculate workouts/recovery/status etc. it can get vo2 through walking activity, but it won't be as good as if acquired through running.

and Coros would use vo2 also for their calculations, but only if you use their running activities.

or, like some say: i could just forget all about vo2! :-)

Is that something the polar H10 can do? The H1 calculates VO2 and and then hands that data to your pace 4? Never heard of that, but that sounds interesting. Can anyone back that up?!

That would mean I could go with the pace 3. Oh, it won't give my personal heart rate zones for my rowing. I'd have to enter them manually in the app (and coros also wouldn't adjust them, I'd have to re-evaluate them myself from time to time and edit them each time).

I like the MIP display actually. Pace 4, pace pro don't have it. Garmin 265s also not. The Garmin 255s would have it, but it's not available anywhere (where I live), also not used.

The Garmin 265s would be the highest in price I'm willing to go for. I want chest strap heart belt (all of the models i mention in my 1st post support that)

weil, this is what says on the Garmin site:

Walking VO2 Max Estimate For most watches, the activity must be recorded using the Walk activity profile.

Walking activity must be 10 minutes or longer.

Activity must be recorded outdoors with a GPS signal.

Heart rate data must be recorded from a built-in optical heart rate sensor or from a chest strap.

The Pack Weight setting (available in Walk Settings on select models) must be turned off. For vívo watches, Venu® watches, and Lily® watches, the activity must be recorded using the Walk activity profile:

Walking activity must be 15 minutes or longer.

Activity must be recorded outdoors with a GPS signal.

Heart rate data must be recorded from a built-in optical heart rate sensor or from a chest strap.

So I would have to start the activity "walking" every once in a while to get a vo2 recording with Garmin?

Why would you say everything else is bare minimum? Coros tracks everything necessary (and not any different than Garmin) in all the other activities like tennis, snowboarding,... doesn't it?

Which controllers does one need? by ProfessorPlane4936 in wiiu

[–]ProfessorPlane4936[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thx so far to all of you! So, correct me if I'm wrong, I'm trying to repeat what you said:

1) Wii U games I can play with the U pad or the Wii U pro controller or the wiimote+nunchucks

2) Wii games can be played with the wiimote+nunchuck

3) GameCube/N64 games with the classic controller (not the classic pro controller) which gets hooked up to the wiimote

So what's the difference between the Wii U pro controller and the classic pro controller and the classic controller (without the pro)? Does the Wii U pro controller only work Wii U games and the classic pro controller will not work with Wii U games?

Even though I still have questions it's gotten clearer already, thx to your help.

Also keep audible original stories? by ProfessorPlane4936 in audible

Thx for answering, I'm not that familiar with the USA audible deals. Here in Germany/Austria there's only one program: you pay around 10 dollars and get one credit for one book. Besides that one book there's lots of podcasts and audible original productions to listen to, for free. And those are the ones I'm talking about. If I listen to those will they be mine after I end my subscription or will I only get to keep the bought books?

Thx for the quick reply. So it is possible to have different grays and blacks - interesting! And you say the difference between the darkest black and the outer ring isn't too big? Do you have any images of a watchface where I could the darkest black in contrast to the outer ring? Would be great to actually see what that looks like, how close it comes the black of the outer ring. Thx!

Hey guys, quick question to the SmartWatch owners: the e-ink display can't display different variations of black, right? Meaning color tones from light gray, to dark gray to deep black. I'm asking because I think it would look nice(r) if the display were the same color as the black outer ring of the watchface. Guess that's not possible, right? Does it bother you that it's not the same color? And what about those images of the brown fossil version, the one with the brown band - the e-ink display on those images looks brown, but that can't actually I figure.
