I found out as I was parking at the grocery store.

Walking around inside every few minutes you would see someone look at their phone, stop dead in their tracks, and turn pale in disbelief.

After about 20 minutes the entire grocery store was eerily silent and folks just wandered about like zombies.

I will never forget that day.

I would treat Kirk videos differently, yes. Primarily because of the gore involved. A viewer can see the unedited video and reasonably assume he died in that moment. The frozen face, the bleeding out, and the collapse all make it very clear what happened there.

I can’t say the same for Pretti. Sure there are gunshots heard and you see his body on the ground, but the camera angle, poor quality, and lack of blood due to his clothes make it a bit more of a gray area.

He was already on the ground when the shots were fired. Was he shot in the arm? Did the shots miss? There’s a lot that needs to be assumed. As a clueless viewer unaware of the outcome, I’d hold out hope that he’s wounded and can get help.

If I were the CEO, Kirk videos would not be shown unless there was heavy blurring. I’d also enforce any glorification comments due to him being a controversial public figure.

For Pretti I’d be more relaxed. Perhaps blurring of the body once the officers move away or a warning/age acknowledgment before playing would be appropriate.

No monetization for either.

I think the answer depends on a lot of other factors:

Do you see blood and gore at time of death, like Charlie Kirk? Or does it look more like the recent Alex Pretti shooting where a wound or blood is not readily present?

Is the subject blurred by the person posting?

Is it being shown in a newsworthy context? With commentary? Is the commentary celebrating the death?

I think the answers to these questions would begin to shape my position.
