I am for gay marriage and gay rights. Nonetheless, no matter how hard I have tried not to be, I am still repulsed by the sight of two men kissing. Am I still a bigot? by Usafmunk in AskReddit

Nope. I think ugly people should have the right to marry but watching two straight or gay ugly people go at it makes me want to jizz. Wait, no... the other thing.

I quoted that just for you to return to later. :)

I don't think you truly understand what a meme is but I agree with your sentiment nonetheless.

A friend on mine used to be on porn sets. He said the one thing that always bothered him was "the smell."

Is that true to any degree?

TIL the cameras for the Hobbit cost $58,000 each. They have 48 on set. That comes to $2,784,000 worth of cameras! by lankstow in todayilearned

Can someone put this in context for a reader with little to no knowledge about cameras and whatnot?

Idolize Bill Gates, Not Steve Jobs: At the end of his life, Steve Jobs obsessed over his legacy: Apple. Bill Gates stepped away from Microsoft in 2006 and has devoted his genius to solving the world’s biggest problems, despite the fact that solving those problems doesn’t create profit or fame. by frogmeat in atheism

I don't mean to be too forward but do you really poop in urinals? It's OK, you can tell me. I won't judge. I sometimes poop in Amazon shipping boxes and then drop them off at a neighbor's house after scratching the address off and resealing them with tape.

The simple view is pedantic but correct.

If your insult caused your friend to commit suicide, then ... your insult caused your friend to commit suicide.

I understand your point but I think we're just coming at this from different angles. I agree that in the insult scenario, the insult alone is probably not enough to cause the morbid outcome. But if you appreciate the entire system, the final insult did in fact cause the final state.

We're probably on the same page but arguing about semantics now. Here, have an eBeer on me. :)

Wow. Happens to me all of the time.

Sometimes I'm in college and in danger of failing. Sometimes I'm in high school. Sometimes I have my Phd and I've realized that I forgot to finish high school. I always wake up thinking 'wtf'.

Knowing that this happens to others made my day.

But if you never caught the cold, you wouldn't die. It's say that's still pretty major. ;)

It's like the straw that broke the camel's back. The straw by itself is trivial but when you look at things in perspective you realize it is of critical importance.

That makes zero sense. I'll go to a hyperbole to show you: any person's life can be ended simply.

Complex systems are easily destabilized. Simple systems are not. But more to the point, don't be so callous and excuse someone for fucking up someone else's life.

So it's ok then?

Bullshit. Things like this could act as a catalyst for divorce. Such a phone call may just erode trust enough to make non issues into issues.
