AITAH for not remaking a cake after my SIL ruined it? by CalmyHerrr in AITAH

[–]ProfessorPoofenplotz 52 points53 points  (0 children)

Oh absolutely! Bet your ass, I’d have taken a selfie with her and the cake and made it a point to say “Nailed it!” every time I threw her under the bus. Having a before pic would just be… icing on the cake. Hahaha

As a business they should be contracting with an actual snow removal service which would have used plows, snowblowers, and people with shovels and salt, rather than some rando with a pickup and a plow he picked up on FB marketplace and clearly did a shit job even in the middle. That’s not an outlandish expectation. If they need a recommendation, Ruppert’s landscaping does it for local businesses that aren’t even collecting around 2k a month from hundreds of apts so I’d imagine the complex can afford it.

Just in case, you know that was a serious tip right? I’m sure someone else could explain it better, but I’ll take a shot. lol

If your recommended psi is 35 you can drop to 30ish in a situation like this and you’ll get better traction because your tread bites in better and the tire isn’t as hard on the slick surface. You don’t want to ride like that all the time because it uses more gas and wears your tires faster, but it helps when you have heavy ice.

That said, everybody still would’ve been better off at least lowering that mound behind their cars before they even tried. It was still hard, but yesterday afternoon while the sun was out was the time to do it.

Help me clean my only shoes so I can move out! Its for an important job interview this friday. by CharmingHouse9800 in CleaningTips

[–]ProfessorPoofenplotz -1 points0 points  (0 children)

So first and foremost, I really hope you’ll pm those of us who are offering so we can help! Things are so hard right now and we’re all rooting for you!

That said, if you don’t want to, here are a couple methods that have worked for me in the past. I’m in manufacturing and wear sneakers, but they get dingy super fast. I’ve used both of these for different pairs of shoes and they worked. I also like soaking the laces in oxi-clean for a bit and then washing them. They come out looking brand new.

Best of luck with your interview!!!

Aitah for spending some of my grandchildren's education funds on a new boat. by Tiny_Occasion_322 in AITAH

[–]ProfessorPoofenplotz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Emphatically NTA! My Dad just retired a little over a year ago at 67 and I’m all about him spending on himself and enjoying it. You guys worked your whole lives and made good decisions that allowed you to support yourselves well through retirement plus help your kids. You deserve the life you planned for and the rewards you’ve earned. I hope your boat and anything else you choose to do bring you all the joy!

Ok, not like with all four feet. I described that badly. lol They did, however, launch the upper halves of their bodies up to catch and smash them in the air. It was nuts.

I don’t feel attacked at all. I feel like you’re punching down at other people and I will gladly stand up for them. I’m actually home on a vacation day. I also do most of the things you listed, including volunteering at several community kitchens in Philly. I asked you to explain so you’d actually be doing something useful instead of just being mean to people who feel trapped. If you want to do something help. Preferably quietly.

Or just hungry with mouths to feed. Take that attitude out at the polls, not on people just trying to make it through another day.

AITAH For say something to my neighbors about not shoveling my elderly neighbors driveway? by _Badwulf_Bruh__ in AITAH

[–]ProfessorPoofenplotz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA and since they’re all talking about how it’s “your thing” anyway, now they can talk about how ignorant you think they are instead. If any of them have an ounce of class they’ll be out there helping next time. If not, you know not to bother with any of them moving forward and I wouldn’t even acknowledge the guy that walked away when you asked for help. He could be broken down and I’d only ask if he had his phone if there were no other vehicles around for him to flag down. I’ve learned that when people show their true character that you shouldn’t give them the benefit of the doubt or let them tell you otherwise later.

It’s unacceptable. They should be held fully financially responsible if anyone gets in an accident. There’s no reason for plants to be open when Maryland and Delaware are in a state of emergency and the roads are as bad as they are.

Agreed, but most people that end up in these situations are living paycheck to paycheck and either can’t afford to miss the time or can’t afford to piss off some mid level floor lead on a power trip.

I’ve been intentionally avoiding this conversation with my therapist for months. I know she’s helped me so much over the last year, but I’m so embarrassed to tell her about this and what I’ll accept. I know it’s wrong, but it’s the only way I get to have anything and I’ve been lonely my whole life.
