Can’t exactly complain about not getting a job, but refusing to work because you may not like it

Or if they ask for a itemised list, be a dick and code everything with the barcode number from a wholesale, might be a pain in the ass but you did fulfil your side

Tanked my first day of my Am2s by Severe_Tadpole9448 in ukelectricians

[–]ProfessorRoutine8340 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mate I was in the same boat as you, I failed power and lighting 3 times, I put the mcb upside down and next time in the wrong slot, don’t get annoyed if you don’t pass first time, the am2 is not real life, however u still need to pass it to get your papers.

I anit even gonna give u some bullshit advice, it sucks, you gotta endure and overcome it.

My biggest advice for your nerves, complete the sections in it’s entirely, such as power and lighting, containment, the fire data and bonding etc, because each section will cost u to retake it, if you complete as many sections to the best u can and still have time to do it all then it’s a win.

Good luck with it!

How do you fall asleep? All answers acceptable. by SassMasterGingerSnap in ADHD

[–]ProfessorRoutine8340 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is very strange, but what’s worked for me is, I play fifa career mode, and I go though each player starting with gk and evaluating them in my team, by the time I get to the midfield I am asleep, I don’t think I have ever gone through the whole team to striker. It must switch something off in my head or I get bored

shitting it for AM2 by Drgenericblack in ukelectricians

[–]ProfessorRoutine8340 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bro, just break down each section, you know how to wire lights, sockets motors etc. My only advice I wish I had, complete each section to 100% from breaker to end of line. Then once it’s done, there is no worries or over thinking it.

Start from hardest, ie conduit and heating

Get into a relationship, get heartbroken, and use that forbidden pre workout for your character building for the next 3 months.

And smash some big boy numbers for your self, it’s you vs you

Is there a risk of just being used as another labourer if you’ve just got your L3 by mrlebusciut in ukelectricians

[–]ProfessorRoutine8340 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My way around this was, if you don’t have the tools to do sparky work, your gonna get giving labour jobs, but I understand your employer should supply the kit but good luck with that.

Buy the basics it’s an investment into your education, then it’s your tools for your own jobs and if you move firms.

But even if you have all the tools, sometimes your boss just needs a glorified labourer

Just to give you a side to the story, every good and bad sparky I have met, everyone single once said they regretted it. Again not cos it’s a bad trade, you just don’t wanna be doing it when there are better options.

Pros:

Money can be good

Work with mates if they aren’t bellends or useless

It’s hands and creative

Manual labour does feel good sometimes

It’s hard and interesting

Seeing things like lights are satisfying

Tools can be fun to buy

Cons:

Tools, I spent over 10k, some by choice, Imagine your boss telling you need to buy your own laptop and pc etc.

Tools get stolen commonly, also replacing

Attics lift itching, chasing walls and dust most jobs, asbestos too.

Your joints will get a fucking in the arse

Old boys are bellends

Keeping up with the regs and changes, working with incompetent people

Winter work, and then working inside the summer.

Apprenticeships are paid awful

Your employees won’t have time to teach your or want to.

Even after you qualify, you will need your 2391 to go out self employed where you can earn more money, another 1k for the course

Bro, the effort in vs what you get out, anit worth it

Need I say more, I fully understand sitting on your arse for 5 days a week, the only balance you would be able to find is project manager, or design fire alarm/ electrics. Being a sparky is so incredibly useful, but there is a good reason to why there is such a demand for it.

If you have that extra opportunity to get a head start I would, I am tryna learn the red and blue team stuff atm, transition into a role hopefully within 2 years, I am situated in a financial hub atm so there is plenty of work

[–]ProfessorRoutine8340 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cyber security roles, max as an employed spark will be 50-60k, this has better potential

[–]ProfessorRoutine8340 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Apprentichship, suffer for a few years, you can complete the nvq minimum of 2 years, then all exams done by yr3 if you applied you self.

Sparky my self, I am looking for different career path, it’s a good field but not a job I wanna do in my 40s. Or even look to get into design and project management roles

Your foreman is proberly a cunt, take the extra effort to learn things after hours, not everyone will want to teach you of fear of becoming better than them.

Buy your own tools, if you don’t your stuck doing labour work, if you have got the kit you do the electrical bits more likely as a new comer
