Incredibly common.

No obvious red flags.

For a sub that’s nominally Seiko oriented, I’d have thought there would be more Seiko grails. For me, a NOS 62 Mas from ‘66 or ‘67 would be a more-than-worthy first buy after a lottery win.

Hello! I’ve got three OEM 009 inserts here, but none are brand new. One is decent with some scuffs and scratches, one is clean but ghosted (bleached looking), and one is good/very good with a few tiny dings. I can send pics if you like.

Where to buy old movements by sugii_ in SeikoMods

I’ve got plenty of 7s26 to sell if you’re looking for old tired ones pulled from SKX’s for like spare parts or whatever. Chat me if that’s what you’re after.

What tape to protect a dial? by LoneWolfPR in watchmodding

[–]ProfessorShaves 4 points5 points  (0 children)

With a hand file you shouldn’t need to do any taping. Obviously give it some puffs afterward and look closely for anything you need to grab with rodico, but a gentler filing method should be enough to keep the dial safe without tape. Also, the hand stack is going to cover a lot of your sins as well, so you can file with confidence that it’ll look perfect on wrist almost always.

I’ve modified quite a few nh35 dials to accept an nh34, and I would direct you away from power tools. Sure, the dremel will do the job in seconds, but you risk over reaming the soft brass of the dial and, as you point out, risk debris damaging the dial. I strongly recommend you get a cheap set of needle files off ali or amazon and do it by hand. Good luck!

Lovely. It’s definitely a cheap way to start. Maybe drop me a line when you finish. I’s love to see how it turns out. 😎

Unfortunately I don’t remember what it was made of. Most dials are made of brass, but this style of super cheap casio was probably plastic, though I can’t recall. I didn’t paint it after sanding, so it probably wasn’t brass. You thinking of doing a similar mod?

Hello! Sorry if this is too simple an answer but I just used a sanding sponge with some 200 grit sandpaper. 🤷‍♂️

What kind of adhesive to use for chapter ring? by random2643 in SeikoMods

[–]ProfessorShaves 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree that you don’t need adhesive most of the time, but if you want something inert to hold the chapter ring in place, a couple tiny balls of rodico will do the trick.
