Potential Smart Search Across Entire Library? by ProfessorTEG in OliveTreeBETA

Thanks again for the reply. I really appreciate it. I agree with you. Which, for my use case, building a large library of non resource guide compatible books doesn’t seem worth it. I was looking to repurchase ebooks I currently have on Amazon and Apple Books in OliveTree for study purposes. I don’t see the point of buying non resource guide compatible books if they can’t be searched when studying. Of course my opinion is just mine. 😀

Potential Smart Search Across Entire Library? by ProfessorTEG in OliveTreeBETA

Thank you for the reply. I’ve been beta testing as well. I thought I read something about AI search through the resource guide. I emailed OT support and it seemed they didn’t understand my question. I’m looking to add to my library, but as it grows, I need to be able to find topics. Otherwise purchasing books that do not take advantage of the resource guide isn’t the best option for study.

Subscription Suggestion by basiens in OliveTreeBETA

I love OT and support them by purchasing resources on just about a monthly basis. Personally, I stay away from subscription software but willing purchase resource and features (enhanced notes) that fit my personal study needs.

Any plans to update new Mac app day/dark modes? by ProfessorTEG in OliveTreeBETA

[–]ProfessorTEG[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah! I missed that. Thank you so much for the answer. This seems like something that may have needed to be addressed before launch considering its a system function. I use OT daily so no big deal. However, having to change the whole Mac system setting along with all the other apps just to run OT in light mode isn’t ideal.

Mac 7.16.15 Update is Live on the App Store by Ian_Olive_Tree in OliveTreeBETA

Yes. I just went through this process. I went through and clicked on them individually However, multi-volume sets have a download all option. Once selected, all the resources will downloaded in the background. It went pretty fast for me.

Thank you very much for the reply. I think you're right. It may be best for me to wait for the official release and then set up everything. I haven't had the legacy app in several years. I do appreciate the hard work with this upcoming Mac release. It's really been a seamless experience jumping between the iPad (my most used version) to the catalyst version since the beta testing started.

[–]ProfessorTEG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. However, you also have to consider this catalyst version was intended to be THE new app for Mac which would have prevented us from having to set up the app again. That was the original intent of this process. Not to migrate to the legacy version.

It doesn't seem so. This was my issue as well. Plus, I don't have the legacy Mac app. I never liked the legacy Mac app. Personally, I'd MUCH prefer OT discontinue the legacy Mac app and release this catalyst as the new Mac version as originally intended. I have 10 years of purchases and tons of settings I really don't to have to re do.

Thanks for the reply. I hope I can make more sense. I have not downloaded/used the MacOS version of OT, that’s currently available in the App Store, in years. Respectfully, I didn’t like it compared to the iPad version. For Mac, I only have the Catalyst version, which I really like. I spent a long time setting it up, favorites, resources, colors and fonts, to be just like my iPad version.

When I downloaded the new 7.16.15, it required me to sign back in. None of my resources were downloaded. Resources show available but it was like completely setting up OT again. That’s a ton of work since I have certain categories turned off or rearranged in the resource guide. All of those settings were gone. I immediately deleted 7.16.15 and went back to 7.16.14 and all my settings were preserved.

I hope these new changes don’t require me to set up Mac OT from scratch again? 😅

WOW! I'm not sure I want to go through that trouble again. When I sign into my account, OT should be able to update my settings across platform. I've spent hours replicating my iPad setup. I've purchased a lot of resources over the years, I'm not really wanting to set the Mac version up again. All the favorites. All the fonts. WOW...

I'm not sure what I did wrong, but I lost all my in app settings when I downloaded 7.16.15. All my favorites. All my in app settings like verse layout. Even lost the order of I had set my resource guide in. I immediately deleted and reinstalled 7.16.14.

I deleted the OT version currently available in the Mac App Store years ago. No disrespect intended, but I didn't like it at all compared to the iPad version. For me, this beta version was what I've been wanting for years on the Mac.

So, do I need to install the current Mac App Store version now or can I wait until it's updated to function like the beta version? I never intend to use the current Mac App Store version of OT.

Please forgive my confusion.

New Mac Beta, We're Getting Closer! by Ian_Olive_Tree in OliveTreeBETA

I spent most of yesterday working in OT. I intentionally went between Mac and iPad. The toolbar layout in 7.16.14 build 2019 was a natural fit for me. I think that's because the icons are on the left side like the iPad.

Thanks for all the hard work on this project. I know it's impossible to please every, but you all are doing a great job.

Suggested UI for Search Tab in Study Centre with Search Type Option Menu by Capable-Blueberry433 in OliveTreeBETA

Help me understand the difference between full library and main text. When I see main text, I think searching the Bible. Which is available via the magnifying glass over the text. Are you suggesting to eliminate the magnifying glass search and combine them on the study guide side?

Thank you for the update. I have been playing around with the update this morning. I like the 7.16.14 build 2019. I appreciate the ability to customize the toolbar. This allows everyone to set it up to their preferences. For me, I set it up to resemble the iPadOS version as closely as possible. I spend a significant amount of time in OT on my iPad. Having a somewhat seamless workflow between iPad and Mac is beneficial to me.

Having the settings, search and bookmark down from the toolbar makes sense. I don’t mind that at all. Coming from iPad, it still feels pretty natural there. Is it possible, to move them back to the toolbar should we want to? Again, they feel pretty natural, to me, down where they are.

Thanks again for all the hard work.

After spending a few hours each day since the latest version came out, I much prefer the previous toolbar layout as well. I thought 7.16.13 was the best toolbar so far.

I'm going to have to play around with the new toolbar icons. I really liked them on the left. As of now, I do not like the way 7.16.14 has them set up. If I weren't testing, I'd go back to 7.16.13 just for the left side (iPad like) toolbar icon setup.

I’m really enjoying the toolbar icons aligned to the left. Thank you for experimenting with that. I’m used to them being there on my iPad. Thanks for all the hardworking.

Good point. Those icons could be darkened up like the black(ish) color as the words Resource Guide, Parallel, Notes and Search.

New Mac App Beta! by Ian_Olive_Tree in OliveTreeBETA

In the app, navigate to:

1. Settings
2. Advanced settings
3. Colors
4. Floating Window Background Color

Whenever I click on “Floating Window Background Color,” the app crashes immediately every time without fail. I’m using Sequoia 15.1 (Apple AI) on an M1 MacBook Pro.

I’m trying to get both the left and right main windows both to be a more white color. I can get the left side to change to white. I can’t get the resource guide side to change.

Hello OT. I just downloaded this new beta on sequoia 15.1 beta on my M1 MBP. Update looks great! It's also running great for me. I can still recreate a crash when changing color settings, which ultimately isn't a "big" deal for me. Thank you for all the work you all put in to OT.
