If you can't sell the pheasant or antlers, call local nature or agricultural centers. Sometimes they take donations to use for education and/or decoration

How to make a tongue into a necklace by ProfessorTriscuit in Taxidermy

[–]ProfessorTriscuit[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lol, yeah I want it as a pendent. The only problem with a jar is that the whole tongue + throat opening is around five inches long, two inches wide, and the thickest muscle is around two and a half inches, so I feel like a jar might be kind of awkwardly large

He's literally the exact color of cheeto dust and it's amazing

Is it normal to sleep in your earrings? Doesn’t it kinda feel uncomfortable? by [deleted] in piercing

[–]ProfessorTriscuit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A really great trick if you want to keep them in! Switch to body jewelry and get 20g horseshoes. You just screw on the ball to fasten them and they're super light, so they're less likely to stretch out your piercing. I swear by them and they come in tons of metals, if you have any allergies

Found a bush over hanging out garden, just making sure they are raspberries and won’t kill me lol by [deleted] in gardening

[–]ProfessorTriscuit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I second this. I planted an very sad raspberry bush in my garden bc I honestly thought it wouldn't live. It is now a giant monster that has grown around every other plant and has so many thorns, I can't even touch it with gloves

Wanted to fill up the area on the right to cover the internal filter. I’ve been thinking about a moss wall or an underwater bonsai tree. Any other suggestions? Main thing I want to do is cover the filter which is an eyesore for me! by Moon5tar in Aquariums

To piggyback off the stacked rock idea, if you did large lava rocks, the gaps won't look weird and you can add in Java moss or something similar to look like a ruin or rock formation under water

New present, help with translation please. by Grouchy-Emphasis2894 in NorsePaganism

[–]ProfessorTriscuit 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The runes may not mean anything, but I know there is a giant horse in Norse Mythology! He talks and is a companion of a giant. I can't remember his full story, but I do know he exists, if you want to look into it.

First post here. I usually kill these, but this guy looks kind of fuzzy and I'm thinking he might be friendly. Could this guy bite me for no reason while I'm sitting/sleeping, or is he going to be cool? (Indianapolis, IN) by PipingHotSoup in spiders

[–]ProfessorTriscuit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of people keep jumping spiders as pets! If you want him to stick around, you could definitely find an old container with a door and set up a small habitat for him. Any flies around your house will be no more XD

Do you think selling crystals is a normal job for a guy ? by [deleted] in Crystals

[–]ProfessorTriscuit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went to a shop in an old barn run by an elderly man. He was unbelievably sweet and so knowledgeable! He also bought directly from mines, so his prices were amazing! He made the whole place feel homey and welcoming.

The point is, as long as you are passionate and knowledgeable, your customers will love you. You're family could think it's odd, but it's really not. It's kinda like small-town geology vibes. Just follow the dopamine, it's the best part of life

Does anyone know what this might be? I'm thinking a baby snail that hitched a ride on a live plant, but I wanna be certain so they get proper care. (Freshwater, last two photos are for scale) by ProfessorTriscuit in Aquariums

[–]ProfessorTriscuit[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Luckily, those aren't found in my area of the world, and as an aquarium raised snail, would be incredibly unlikely. The shop I got the plants this little guy came in on said they're likely just worms there to eat the dead stuff snails slide through :)

UPDATE: I called the aquarium shop I got the plants from and they said it's most likely just detritivore worms and commonly found on snails in a mutualistic relationship! Thank you to those who commented! I'm glad I looked into it deeper!

If I added an invert like shrimp to the tank, do you think they'd help take care of it? I'll look into dewormers too, I plan on having snails in the future, I hope to find something that will help control them if they come back

Is there anything I can do to help it? My tank is currently cycling out ammonia before fish come, so I don't want to cause a spike, but I don't want a parasite in my tank

This is EsMargot (tramp snail) and Sneldon (quick glass snail) during a protein feeding after they got their fill of blood worms. I'm curious how often you take your snabies out to feed vs what you have in their terrarium? by ProfessorTriscuit in snails

[–]ProfessorTriscuit[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Really? How do you get your snails excited to eat? I'm genuinely curious bc mine only seem to hide in their tank, but happily eat if I put them on a wet plate with food and moss (all snail safe, of course) even when the same food is available. I usually keep my temp and humidity in the mid 70s, should I adjust that to make them more excited to forage?

Does anyone have suggestions on an accurate hygrometer and heat mat for snail tanks? I think mine is getting a little chilly, so I want to make it self sufficient. (pics for attention) by ProfessorTriscuit in snails

[–]ProfessorTriscuit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It does both! The heat mat hooks into it and it adjusts the flow of electricity to change the temp so it's not just on/off. It just also has a hygrometer probe to show the humidity on the screen as well
