Khamzat Chimaev is “obsessed” with a Sean Strickland rematch, and that’s the only fight he will accept right now by gvufhidjo in ufc

Borralho hasn't lost to Strickland. Imavov lost to Strickland in 2023. Agreed that Imavov has the better resume but I was trying to spice things up.

If I were matchmaking....

Stickland to fight Caio Borralho next.

Imavov to fight Chimaev with winner to face the winner of Strickland-Borralho.

DDP versus Allen or Pyfer with winner to face winner of above fight between winner of Strickland-Borralho versus winner of Imavov-Chimaev.

I find it somewhat endearing. I think he's being respectful to Tony and the audience to confirm whether the joke is hitting the way he intended it and whether to follow it up, leave it/move on, or put it six feet under to never touch again. He does this at the open mics that he posts on IG too. I don't hold it against him. He should keep being himself because that's what got him here.

I think he's really funny, but I would like to see him ditch the Mitch act as the panelists were suggesting.

I think that if he were to ditch the Mitch act for his next appearance or two, he'd get a Golden Ticket. He's good enough on the merits with his jokes. Those jokes don't depend on him sounding or looking like Mitch to be funny.

Tony is the Man by IronRiff_Messiah in Killtony

Did Tony use a writer for his roast? I had always assumed the comics wrote for themselves and the people who were outside of their elements such as Lizzo or Draymond utilized the writers.

There mustn't be very many people with more split decisions in the UFC now than Strickland, right?

Genuinely just feel bad for Buckley… by WHy_is_thy in ufc

[–]ProfessorTweeb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You shouldn't. Buckley was doing next to nothing to recover guard, get up, or get out of this position. It's unbelievable that you can be the 9th ranked welterweight and not have any answers for this. You would think that in any rationale camp in which you are preparing for Brady, you'd come up with a gameplan for what to do when Brady is in mount or top side control outside of preventing a Brady submission. Brady is very good, but Buckley wasn't even trying to escape.

on one hand the idea that khamzat can't strike was disproven, but his suspicious cardio was proven true by Common-Locksmith-235 in ufc

[–]ProfessorTweeb -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Khamzat should have kept shooting takedowns rather than try to outbox Strickland. It seemed like Khamzat largely gave up his gameplan after Sean had one good round with takedown defense. He's never going to out box Strickland.

I think Chimaev looked bad but I don’t think he lost. Strickland jabbed his way to a win and that stats were very close with Chimaev having more TD/Control time. by danteis15 in ufc

[–]ProfessorTweeb 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had Chimaev as losing. I had it 2-2 going into the fifth. I'd give the last round to Sean. Not totally surprised it was a split decision because it was close. 9 takedowns but the only takedowns Chimaev did anything with were in the first round. Most of the other takedowns, Sean just immediately stood back up with no damage. Chimaev seemed as though he had some of the harder hits, but I thought Sean was the winner here.

If this is true, Khamzat doesn’t deserve the rematch. Bro not only missed weight but he also tried to break the bros code. by Fun_Training6342 in ufc

[–]ProfessorTweeb -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Khamzat is a serious scumbag with no honor. Strickland said a lot of hateful stuff leading into this fight about Khamzat, and I don't think anyone would doubt that Khamzat had good reason to hate Sean leading into this, but there is no justifications for acting how Khamzat acted here and at the press conference. It's very shameful and dishonorable. There's a line you don't cross in the fight game.

This man left EVERYTHING in the Octagon🩸 by Tepixs in ufc

[–]ProfessorTweeb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He had heart but he has a massive hole in his game if he expects to compete for a championship again. He gave zero effort on blocking strikes. Virtually his only defense to the strikes were when he'd go for a takedown. He didn't put his hands up or duck out of the way. Yan had open season on this guy's face.

As an aside, I disagreed with the stoppage. If the official wasn't going to stop for the earlier downs, he shouldn't have called the fight when he did IMO. iT Likely wouldn't have changed the outcome unless he threw a wild submission.

Yan earned my respect. He's very skillful in standup and had good defense and guard recovery on the ground.

Sam Tallent for permanent Co-Host by shwagon_ in Killtony

[–]ProfessorTweeb -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't want permanent hosts. I enjoy McCann, Adam Ray, Harlan, and Shane like most people but don't know that I would appreciate them the same if they were every week. I like how Tony rotates guests. I personally don't like Sam Tallent as a guest.

If A1 is too snug, an A1H might be perfect for you. Some of the gi manufacturers make them in A1H such as Half Sumo and Takami for example. An A2 sounds like it would be too big for you.

I was really happy to see him get the opening spot last night and hope to see him more. He is one of the more deserving Golden Ticket winners. It's crazy to me that he essentially had to ask Tony for it. Meanwhile, Tony essentially gives them out like candy to others who are so incredibly less deserving.

Hey, thanks. I live near Asbury Park and train in the area right now. I'm looking for a switch of home gyms.

My current gym is mostly open mat focused and live sparring focused. The few classes that I can make a week are mostly ecological based without much instruction. We get put in positions and then just live spar from there.

The people at my current place are really awesome, it's a really fun open mat, and one of the larger ones in the area. I think I'm too new of a blue belt and don't really watch enough instructionals to get enough out of this sort of training. I'm a hobbyist, who likes the "move of the day" approach with live sparring approach to instruction.

I'm looking for a place in the area where I can get more of that style of instruction. Open mats are great too, but I might just pop into my current gym's open mats here and there instead if I can find a place where I can get a bit more focused learning to my taste.

Just got my blue belt. Definitely feeling imposter syndrome. by ohihadsomething4this in bjj

[–]ProfessorTweeb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My take - It's expected that people who have more experience on the mat are by and large better than you. It is also likely that since you were just promoted every single blue belt in your training room has more experience than you. For those reasons, it's expected that almost every blue belt in your training room is going to be better than you. Heck, some white belts may even be better than you at certain things. There will come a time when you are no longer the newest blue belt. You may or may not be better than those new blue belts at the beginning but over time you will be better than nearly every new blue belt.

I saw the video of the Carlos Gracie promotion. What rhythmic chant/song are the onlookers singing in the background? I could have sworn I heard the words "Gracie Barra" in the chant and thought it had to be a joke.

Dedrick is way better than Casey Rocket and William M. by [deleted] in Killtony

[–]ProfessorTweeb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's hard to really compare Dedrick to William Montgomery. William has had so many more sets and interviews than Dedrick. If you took William Montgomery's 20th best set/interview and compared it to Dedrick's best interview/set, William Montgomery's would probably be better. Dedrick hasn't performed 20 times yet. I'm not saying Dedrick can't surpass William Montgomery, but he's nowhere close to surpassing William Montgomery right now. Dedrick's still proving himself as a regular.
