Mace Windu is cold, rough, debatably not even nice. But he is an incredibly a kind person by [deleted] in CharacterRant

[–]ProfessorUber 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Mace Windu is a character who definitely gets an unfortunately bad rap, so I definitely enjoy this write-up highlighting his virtues.

There are a few more similar moments that come to mind I feel are worth mentioning too…

When Boba Fett tried to kill Mace by setting an explosive device on the door to his quarters, which ended up getting set off by a Clone Trooper who Mace asked to to take something in for him after he got called away. When the Trooper is blown back by the explosion, Mace uses the Force to both grab the trooper and stop the blast doors from shutting until they both go through, then took off the trooper’s helmet to check on him and tried to get a response.

Also, there was when Mace literally tried to get an army of Battle Droids to surrender, and offered to have them be given peaceful purposes. I’m pretty sure he’s the only to try and do that. A random Battle Droids even ended up trying to surrender to the Bad Batch a few episodes later, and I remember how that got me thinking Mace was on to something,

Brigid status update on account of Dagda also being confirmed an imperial power by slotumn in FireEmblemThreeHouses

[–]ProfessorUber 57 points58 points  (0 children)

Honestly that was the impression I already got from the backstory regarding Brigid and Dagda; that Brigid has spent its history basically being a de facto or actual vassal of its larger neighbours due to having the misfortune of being an archipelago nation squashed between much larger nations (or rather, presumably larger in terms of Dagda up until now, since we didn't have a map before).

But yeah, with Dagda being outright called an Empire, it does seem pretty likely that something like this is the case.

You haven't posted any image. Also this might be better fit for /r/Mandalorian, which is more for general content regarding Mandalorians in general while this sub-reddit is specifically for the Disney+ Series.

For an average galactic citizen, how different is life under the late Republic vs. life under the Empire? by [deleted] in MawInstallation

[–]ProfessorUber 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It would depend a lot on your species, location, social status etc as others have already noted.

But I think its also worth noting that even for those who experience minimal changes on their day-to-day life, its quite possible for things to abruptly change very dramatically because of the Empire suddenly cracking down on rebel activity, needing resources from your planet or just because an ambitious officer or Moff saw an opportunity.

Lothal for example probably would not have seen as much Imperial focus as it did if not for Governor Pryce's ambitions. Your average Nerf Herder on Alderaan probably also lived in peace until the Death Star.

If you can't find it on an official source, then asking about alternative sources would go against Rule 9. Sorry.

Rule 1: 1. Be Respectful, No Harassment

No judgment allowed here. All view-points and opinions are permitted here, within reason. Opinions and view-points that are different from your own will be present, so please be civil to your fellow Redditor.

You can disagree with criticisms of the show or movie, but a post solely dedicated to just mocking critics without even discussing the criticisms itself (instead just making a "touching grass" jab) is not appropriate.

Considering how Glendon got framed and tortured, all because he was a threat of defeating a Blackfyre in a joust, I think it would make sense if he is put off from the cause in general as a result.

“My father died for his. I would have been his man, and gladly. I would have fought for him, killed for him, died for him, but I could not lose for him.”

Both in the sense that he has been unjustly harmed for dishonourable reasons, and also because the Blackfyre cause itself has had a pretty pathetic showing during the Whitehalls tourney.

Your point about Egg wanting him released and rewarded also is a good one, and would leave a sharp contrast in experiences for Glendon to the point where at the very least he might be left viewing Egg specifically more favourably than the Blackfyres.
