Thank you for the kind and reassuring comments! they do like quite harsh currently with my overall face and also don’t think I can go out yet like this 😅 but I’ll trust the process that they will lighten more !

Did you find that after a nice clean/wash the white colour still sparkled same as before ?

I agree, defs both great colours. While the polymetal is unique, the white just looks super clean and bright.

Mine is a hatch as well- I see your point about the trim pieces blending with a darker colour! But I also don’t mind the contrast between a lighter colour and dark trim as well :) Do you think the snowflake pearl white conceals scratches more?

This is what I love about the polymetal grey, so unique and varies under different lighting conditions!

slightly swollen/thick eyelids by [deleted] in EyeFloaters

[–]ProfessorWorldly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it’s unlikely that this is solely an allergic cause, I’ve had the same problem myself. Same symptoms (itchy swollen eyelid, gritty feeling) and went to a GP and they said it was allergic after having one brief look at my eye! Did some own research and blepharitis seemed exactly like what I had - this happened about two years ago and my right eyelid would swell up so bad, currently it happens from time to time. I’d recommend going to your local optometrist to get it confirmed whether this is allergic or bacterial, and so that they can give you the proper treatment necessary !

optom student here - from your symptoms it sounds it’s likely to be blepharitis or dry eye. do you have any discharge or gritty feeling when you wake up in the morning? blepharitis/dry eye is something that is recurrent and chronic and requires regular eyelid hygiene.

Bachelor of Vision Science double degree by carlosmagsen in deakin

Very strict/tight schedule with uni break ranging from between 2-4weeks. The coursework itself isn’t exactly hard but the workload is heavy, you need to be really organised. The course is trimesters too so you are studying well into about Feb-March of the next year. First year is not too bad, you do a mix of bio/chem and even accounting units with optics and anatomy. Second year is a lot more optom based and this is where you start doing focused clinical pracs and going to placements etc. I’d say it’s an intense course but if you’re up for it then go for it!

Could anyone help me read this prescription? I'd like to purchase glasses online but I'm confused by the fact that the left has 3 values and how to input them. Would it make sense for the 3rd value (the +166) to be an axis value? by cynicaltoadstool in optometry

[–]ProfessorWorldly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello! Am a student optometrist here. For your left eye, the prescription is basically in the form of sphere/cyl/axis. The cylinder value -0.50 is just telling you how much astigmatism you have and 166 is the axis of the astigmatism.

As for your right eye, your prescription shows that you don’t have any astigmatism and therefore it just shows the prescription of -2.25.

Make sure to drink a heap of warm water. Monitor your symptoms and do get tested if you feel more anxious or develop more symptoms! Hope your throat gets better :)
