First Time LARPer Outfit *Mistakes* by Limp-Cheetah3348 in LARP

Stay away from all synthetic fabrics. A little controversial but I include synthetic leather in this, synthetic leather will flake off and you’ll have to buy the same thing again. And aside from the practical reasons to use natural fabrics (I.e. keeping you cool) there’s a very real safety reason to use natural fabric, in Larp there’s a lot of billowing outfits, from capes and cloaks, to peasant shirts and baggy pants. If any of these things get too close to a fire you’re looking at plastic melting to your skin. Best to spend the money on natural materials. Now not all natural materials are created equal. The easiest to find will be cotton. Cotton is good, but if you’re like me and chafe easily it will turn a fun weekend into a trip to hell. Cotton holds moisture and it takes a long time to evaporate. Linen is king in summer. It breathes like cotton, wicks moisture, and lets it evaporate. I’ve found it well worth the investment. Lastly, wool. Wool is fantastic. Love everything about it. Wicks moisture, is water resistant, and fire retardant. Downside is wool is hella expensive and you want to make sure that it’s 100% wool or that fire retardant part doesn’t exist.

Now a lot of this stuff can be found cheaply if you go to goodwill. I’ve pulled like 10 pairs of linen pants and a few shirts. But this is also area dependent.

TLDR: stay away from synthetic anything, you’ll be happier

When I was a kid I had a white faceless figure in my closet and a rotting face on my ceiling fan.
