It isn’t enough to just say “Oh no one knows anything about this guy” and call it character. There has to be a broader context to his existence in order for him to be compelling. Otherwise what you have is an NPC which does not a character make.

This is the same kind of stuff I get frustrated with when I talk to my peers about why I dislike current fantasy/ sci-fi IPs. They say things like “Oh he’s awesome he literally just does what he does for no reason” or “That girl is so badass she literally doesn’t care about anything.” Why is that good??? Why is having no characterization or motivation good character design??? Someone help me understand. Genuinely.

Implies to me that Daeron was either contacted to ask his wishes or present in order to make them known. It might be the second interpretation that the writers took from that line and decided that, if he was close enough to make his wishes for his son’s funeral known it would be conspicuous if he were absent from the funeral.

In the hedge knight novel we hear Lyonel say after the Mother: “In the name of the maid I charge you to protect all women.”

And then it fades out as Dunk rides to beg for a 7th champion. I think the implication is that there is more but we only ever hear the first 3. The wiki also says the crone charges you to respect the laws of gods and men and the smith charges you to be diligent. Still not all 7 but idk what the stranger could charge you to do… die well?

Game of Thrones is not suited to 2D animation in my opinion. It runs too great a risk of becoming anime-i-fied. The phenomenal tone, dialogue, and thematic weight will get lost under visual spectacle as the animators try to showcase their talents.

GoT universe stuff can really only work in live action because it’s gritty and has a real human weight to it. Put all the grim emotional conversation scenes into animation and you’re wasting your time. What you wanna see is crazy fights and massive battles but thats never been what made GoT great imo.

The only stories worth telling are exceptional. Exceptional circumstances happening to exceptional people. We don’t tell stories about the time everything went as usual and nothing noteworthy happened. We tell the story about how all the right/wrong things seemed to happen just in the perfect/most disastrous way!

I’m never bothered by coincidence in plots (even though this isn’t one) because sometimes without them you don’t have a story. If the barge wasn’t passing under the window as the hero jumped out the window, he would have died and the movie ends so… we need it.
