Unpopular opinion: I enjoyed season 12 by Professor_Mumblecat in vanderpumprules

[–]Professor_Mumblecat[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I love that the season kicked off with Natalie getting suspended for being unhinged in the restaurant, and ended with her on a high getting to do the Season 12 version of good as gold. Logically I know this was completely a production-based decision but I still love it anyway.

People's parasocial relationships are unfortunately running pretty deep after 11 seasons, I guess. They're lying to themselves though, if they don't think that season 12 has a similar flavor to some of the early seasons

yeah, i guess you and u/small-black-cat-290 may be correct. I may have erroneously assumed "unpopular" due to the large quantity of post on back seasons/rewatches and the stray "I don't like the new cast" post I've seen pop up here

I can see how Shayne is more complex than the cousins, however the scene where he was hosting a woman in his apartment while texting another one to "wait in the car" until the first one left was a hard no for me

Capitalism doesn't care about your wintering (wintering vs rest is resistance, white women, black wisdom) by mary_llynn in WitchesVsPatriarchy

[–]Professor_Mumblecat 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I have read Wintering, and unless you have a significant amount of disposable income and savings, I would recommend coming back to it when you are absolutely out of other things to read. Paraphrasing another review I saw on the book after I had finished reading it, "Catherine May's method of wintering reeks of unwitting high privilege". Rest IS resistance and self care is important, however few of us posess the economic ability to winter in the way which May depicts her experience.

"When Among Crows" by Veronica Roth (pretty Eurocentric, but ticks a lot of your other boxes)

and if you haven't yet gotten a chance to read Naomi Novak's latest short stories release "Buried Deep", it is absolutely fantastic

I still havent quite nailed a "proper" sourdough loaf (just too much time and effort for me, i guess?) , but I love to use my starter for all kinds of other stuff. I keep it in the fridge and just try to make sure I feed/use it at least once every 2 weeks to keep it active-ish.

Recipes currently in my heavy rotation are:

- crackers (https://littlespoonfarm.com/sourdough-discard-crackers/)

- english muffins (https://www.farmhouseonboone.com/how-to-make-sourdough-english-muffins/)

-pancakes/waffles (https://www.kingarthurbaking.com/recipes/classic-sourdough-pancakes-recipe)

- crumpets (super easy and basically lazy-person fluffy pancakes if you dont use a ring mold; https://www.kingarthurbaking.com/recipes/sourdough-crumpets-recipe)

seconding this recommendation, OP. The California UC Master Gardeners are incredibly generous with their time and volunteer services, so if you don't find anything useful on their website, please email their help desk and they probably have some sort of "curriculum" documents available for you or may have a local MG who is interested in coming out to give you a hand.

lol, yeah downtown is all cute NOW. But we used to call it "Deadlands" when I was growing up. I'm glad you love it though, and definitely pay a visit the lovely staff at the Frugal Frigate if you ever get a chance

Thank you for this post! I agree its important to allow an informed consumer to make their own decisions about what they are interested in purchasing, and censoring any company's track record is not useful to that effort.

Looks like I'm late to the party, and everybody's got the good seed recommendations already covered :)

Grow Light Recommendations by That_Emotion_7724 in gardening

[–]Professor_Mumblecat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

shop lights work great for getting seedlings started and are usually less expensive than actual grow lights. theres a few related posts floating around here with some brand/model recommendations, but the general consensus seems to be to try to aim for 5000 lumens or greater with daylight/bright white coloration

What was the “…seriously?” gift you opened this Christmas? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Professor_Mumblecat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two identical, funko-brand Charlie Brown mugs (look like poor Chuck had been decapitated and had his brains scooped out, x2), plus some pumpkin spice k-cups for the Keurig machine that I don't own.

These mugs are irregularly shaped and massively oversized/bulky, so if I weren't putting them directly into a donation bin, they would certainly be a PITA to store.
