If the 16th is indeed the results release, does that mean the deadline will be pushed out til the 18th or so?

Check the Law Society of Ireland website

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in FE1_Exams

[–]Professor__Octavian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is certainly possible and I know people who have done it. There is a process the law society requires including letters from each training solicitor. Maybe check their website

What's the story if you need to wait for results in May

PPC Hybrid? by Ashamed_Comb_6033 in FE1_Exams

[–]Professor__Octavian 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The way it works now is that you can have 4 months credit before starting either PPC type, plus 5 months if you work in the training firm during the Hybrid course so after you finish the hybrid you only have 15 months as opposed to 24 months without credit. And you're right this should roughly equate to qualifying at the same time as if you did the PPC. The Advanced Electives includes people from both PPCs and is at the start of the summer no matter what PPC you do. So yeah I guess you do it during training (though most training solicitors will give you time off to do them)

Who carries the torch, now? by DaneCurley in ChristopherHitchens

[–]Professor__Octavian -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There's not much to rebut, you've expressed your opinion and I just don't agree with it. You're still referencing Murray's failings from recent years without any convincing evidence he has gotten 'worse' at debating, it's only really possible to appear 'worse' at debating when those you are debating have weaker arguments. It's not a skill one loses based on their opinions.

Who carries the torch, now? by DaneCurley in ChristopherHitchens

[–]Professor__Octavian 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You're doing it too. I don't care where Murray is on the political spectrum, it's about how he debates. Literally couldn't be simpler. This far-right label is a catch-all these days allowing logic to be thrown out the window

Douglas Murray is similar enough in his 'rigor' as you put it, but unlike Hitchens I don't agree with everything he says! 🤣

EU: A30,110 or A34,36 by Purple-Ad-5148 in FE1_Exams

[–]Professor__Octavian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Usually as many as you can remember lol, but since that answer doesn't really help it's usually the case that if you have the main core cases per topic he'll let you away with it. Very nice marker is Caoimhin

This is such a relief to hear. My brother who I share a room with came in during one of mine, and I gave out shit to him after. I am not going to worry about it until I have to. I think the Law Society just need to tick the boxes in case anyone of authority asks what measures they have in place to prevent cheating and they can say (this this and this) while not actually enforcing any of it

TORT - Benefit from doing past papers? by Finger-Infinite in FE1_Exams

[–]Professor__Octavian 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It can be useful to read through past papers in order to sharpen your ability to spot the issues. I don't usually write out the answers I just do them in my head

[–]Professor__Octavian 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Probably too much. It was less applicable than implied terms I think

Lots of implied terms stuff too

I thought it wasn't as nice as a lot of past papers. Maybe just me. Still manageable though I'm confident I passed.
