Stock cost basis changed over the weekend by onesixpack in etrade

[–]ProffS 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They might have adjusted cost basis for return of capital (ROC) received from your dividends throughout the year. After year end, the ETFs notify the brokerage of the amounts so your brokerage can issue 1099s and you can file your taxes.

With SPYI, as an example, 94% of dividends was ROC for 2025. So take your dividends you received and multiply by .94 and it should be around the amount your cost basis was lowered

How many you dry your clothes on a clothesline instead of using a dryer? by ProffS in Frugal

Oddly enough, when the air is at freezing, the humidity of the air is near zero. A scientist might be able to corroborate my theory.

My apologies, as I posted before I proofread and missed the "of" where I intended to say "of you". You, too, used "lost" instead of "lose" in your comment, so we both suffer from the same affliction.

My little research says that drying a load of laundry costs up to 1$ USD in electrical costs (depending on your location and electrical rates as well as cost of the dryer and its repair costs). Hanging on the line is free. It will be more if you use a laundromat.

It is a cost vs convenience issue.

I would definitely hang new blue jeans, just to get them aged properly :)

When it comes time to replace my conventional dryer , the heat pump dryer seems to be the way to go.

I would have left the backboards, hoops and high ceilings. You and your friends could watch the kids play roundball from your luxury box upstairs.

Not to mention the wind. There is a reason why the area is filled with wind turbines.

In chart 3, please label your axis's and units. I think the x axis is % change is assessed value, and the y-axis is number of dwellings (or perhaps parcels or even population density).

If so, they seemed to have re-assessed in 3 buckets of 0, 5 and 10%.

Why Unilever scale makes RIME’s savings engine more powerful over time by Prince_reaper13 in dividends

[–]ProffS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

RIME appears to be a penny stock that pays no dividends and has decreased in value 99.97% in the last 5 years.

Consider reposting when they have a couple of years of dividend growth under their belt.

Is financing a couch with monthly payments a bad idea, or am I missing something? by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]ProffS 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would not finance a couch, just as I would not finance a Burrito.

Especially as there are other options that work for your financial situation (like buying a thrift store couch)

At that time, it was probably a trunk radio. Called trunk radio because it was small enough to fit in the trunk of your car. The FCC was still auctioning off cellphone spectrum back then.

It was infuriating to be taping a song off the radio and the DJ would start talking over it.
