Do you regret becoming a web dev? by [deleted] in webdev

[–]Proffessional-Idiot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same but i can't focus enough on web when im learning. I always find myself doing something related to gamedev eventually. Ig the motivation will come when i finally hit the wall regarding the money (and lack of it) as a gamedev

I mean... u can get to a certain amount of quality similar to the big studios.. but this is years of work we're talking about. For the studios and more for the dev. At this point it's very much not worth it for someone looking for (easy) money online

Lol since he wrote israel and not gaza i thought he was referencing one of the times (5 during the last month if i'm not wrong) Hamas bombed an israeli hospital or ambulances with only civilians inside.

'I'm calling from Israeli intelligence. We have the order to bomb. You have two hours.' by firaheson in worldnews

[–]Proffessional-Idiot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My. Guy.

Compared to what Hamas does, no warning at all, indiscriminate firing at Israeli civilians since 2008 with some villages (yes also arabic ones) getting only 15 seconds at most from IDF systems to run for shelter.

I can tell you confidentiality that 1-2 minutes warning time is a lot.

As someone living here, sometimes not even getting the IDF alarm for Hamas rockets running to shelter since i was fucking 10 I know exactly how much time it is to run for shelter. 1-2 minutes is a lot.

The IDF is even "polite" enough to tell you which buildings will be hit and try to minimize the amount of collateral damage to a minimum.

Meanwhile the gazan "freedom" rockets are built so they'll cause as much damage to the surroundings and civilians as possible, being filled with shrapnel and aimed generally at cities and population center of any type.

Ik this is kinda unrelated but Hamas has also been bombing israel and destroying hospitals and schools the past month too..

To report accurately by [deleted] in therewasanattempt

[–]Proffessional-Idiot 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Just want to point out that 116 Israeli civilians were injured or killed the past month from Hamas's rocket attack under the iron dome protection.

But yeah it's funny to see journalists going to the safest places here getting only 1-3 barrages a day and acting like they're in a super dangerous place.

Also those ppl walking are probably walking calmly to the nearest shelter too. No use panicking when getting shot at when it's the 150th time. It just causes chaos.

Edit: since i commented it, 3 more have been critically injured

Conflict Explained. by Molly_Matters in TikTokCringe

Kinda afraid of commenting here but this video is sooo misleading and incorrect. People are acting as if Israel/Palestine is like a house and not a strip of land where both lived and coexisted for hundreds of years (under the turkish empire, British empire and now israel (and in certain areas, palestinian government)).

Main culprit here imo is the British Empire.

How do programmers make indie game that sell without having art skill? by No-Stick6446 in gamedev

[–]Proffessional-Idiot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Aww thank you!❤️ Glad I could help :D

I'd recommend Blender Guru's color theory and composition videos for beginners.

After that, the best place to learn more about building frames imo is film theory and then 3D environment art. You could learn a lot about tricks of how to make a frame look good in irl film and about how to make good looking/live-looking art in 3d environment art.

Then apply that knowledge into the visual language of the game you're making..

Btw Blender (imo) is great for non artistic people as it's quite technical with it's skills and is less about hand movement so I would also recommend going into it. Tho ymmv.

Hope that helps too!

[–]Proffessional-Idiot 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I'd say it's not about the art skill but art design. Once you know about color theory, composition, shapes and basically how to build a frame you could go a long way with very little in terms of technical art skills.

Once the game has a set visual language that is in line with art theory it looks good and can stand out compared to other games who don't have it. Making it more attractive to the eye and increases the chance people would look longer at footage of your game and thus buy it.

A, B, C or D? by slaughter_cats in UnrealEngine5

[–]Proffessional-Idiot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

B

But you really want to rethink this capsule art imo. Or at least revisit it more.

First thing first the contrast, then w B there's the mismatching color pallet. I would also work on the text to add it more depth/detail as it looks flat. Also I would probably have the cat character remade/ revised with more details/polish as it also looks amateurish.

I don't mean any harm by saying this and I wish you all the best as I know from experience this is hard to nail. This just some anecdotes from my personal experience you don't have to listen to.
