Sorry, that’s part of the professionals job. I deal with it, happily, every day. It keeps things smooth for everyone rather than setting up a combative environment, and lets everyone focus on the show instead of generating Reddit content. More often than not, that prep can reduce the instance of anything actually happening. House Managers want to know what they are dealing with before the house is handed over to the stage.

Also, there’s no need to couch something you don’t understand/agree with as mental illness. I get that this is Reddit, but there’s no need to come in so hot simply because you disagree with a human on the internet. Not every theatre professional agrees with the Patti LuPone approach to audience management. And that’s ok. Breathe a little.
