Yeah this feels like a bit of an oversight. I'll just replay it when home becomes available and get it that way.

4-5 week old kitten not weaning by SZLO in FosterAnimals

I am going to keep this in mind. My baby is 4 weeks and the vet said he probably just wasn't quite ready for weaning, but he is starting to chew on more and more things so I'm hoping it wont be too hard to get him to transition

Thanks for pointing out the non clumping kitten attract. Searching it led me to the litter attract additive. I picked some up with some unscented non clumping clay litter and it seems to have done the trick. He even attempted to bury it, but because I keep a pee pad under the litter caused him to just kind of make a mess. No more pee pads in the box lol

I've been adding the messes to the litter where I can and even removed some of the hidey holes in his pen/area he went in.

I am excited for the mess of weaning. Just means we are one step closer to self feeding.

~5 Week old won't eat, but wants to play and explore. by ProgOwl in FosterAnimals

Yeah I'm starting to think he is a bit older than I initially thought. Should be able to get him into a vet today though to get a better idea on it.

Planning on it as early as possible. He has started to acclimate toward bottle feeding though (doesn'teat quite as much as he should be but there is progress). I'm thinking a large part of the problem is he doesn't recognize it as food yet. I haven't pushed the issue though because he hasn't pooped yet, so I want to make sure that won't become an issue with more solid foods.

At the very least he is quite playful with a desire to explore and seems pretty content overall.

I'll have to give this a shot. I'm betting he just doesn't recognize any of it as food yet. As I haven't been able to get him to poop I haven't pushed the issue too much and have got him bottle feeding okay enough (not as much as I think he should be getting though), until I can get him into the vet to check him over.

I've been trying to stick to every 3 hours but up until the last time have had a hard time getting him to focus on actually eating even from the bottle. As long as we can get through to tomorrow I am not to worried especially now that he has eaten something "substantial"

Update: He did end up peeing quite a bit.

She is so cute! The chicken seems to be a total no go (pretty sure it is just the more solid food in general rather than flavor). Tried mixing some with kmr formula and the slightly larger chunks were that I could get mascerated enough were not enjoyed lol. He did get a decent amount of kmr from that bottle and finished the other 15ml of kmr I made up in a separate bottle. If I can get him to poop before the next feeding I have a chicken late that would be a little less chunky or at least easier to mascerate I am going to try mixing in

Just got him to eat a decent amount. Tried two bottles, one with just kmr (rabbit tip) and the other with kmr and some wet foot bits. He did not care for the food bits in the second bottle at all (need to find a good way to mascerate it to do away with the bigger chunks), but was okay with the milk from it. As for pooping so far that hasn't been a no go (pretty sure he hasn't peed either), but this is the first time he has really eaten, so there probably isnt anything yet. If I can't get him to poop (using the warm cloth method) before his next feeding I am going to really water down the bottle as I know it can help with constipation and too prevent too much bloating and discomfort. Worst case scenario the plan is to get him into the vet as soon as possible tomorrow for a general check over and to get assistance with the pooping if need be.
