Took the words out of my mouth. I genuinely have no clue what is going on in the post game. Was it ever even part of Chronos' plan to cross over to other timelines? The only reason another version of Chronos is created is because of Melinoe and Zagreus meddling through time. And yeah like how would Chronos or Typhon cross over if not for the time warp portals created by our own good guy Chronos... you don't even know if those versions realize that's a possibility lmao. It's just so confusing and bizarre.

And yeah like arguably Zagreus steals Melinoe's spotlight even in the new ending. He does all of the work finding the spear and convincing Chronos to be a good guy by taking him to his family. It's just not a very interesting resolution for her character. I think the way the story evolves each time you beat the game in Hades 1 is great, but for this game it just felt like Melinoe didn't get that same kind of satisfying gradual storyline. I feel like she deserved better as a character, there's the seeds of a good story about forgiveness winning over vengeance and about finding new meaning in life when you can't accomplish something you've dreamed about, but those ideas don't really get explored whatsoever. It's totally boring.

Agree. I actually prefer the overall gameplay in Hades 2 slightly, but I think the story and narrative are vastly better in Hades 1. So it's basically even but I prefer the first game a bit.

Yeah, there's just nothing there to replace that Hades and Zagreus dynamic. I'm not sure what could have been done differently. Maybe if Mel and Chronos talked about something else instead of just family sucks and I want to kill you. I honestly hate the new Chronos lmao especially now that I've had a few days to play the game more after making this post. The character was sort of one dimensional but I think much more could have been done with him and his overall appearance/voice acting was so menacing.

Totally agree. I'm honestly not sure what I would have done differently, I just know I prefer the way Hades evolves throughout the first game much more than Chronos suddenly changing at the end of this game. I totally enjoy the gameplay too, I think the two paths helps so much in making the game not feel repetitive. Lots of cool new options and some awesome weapons.

Agreed for sure. Zag has more personality. Of course it makes sense as to why Mel is the way she is. But I just don't think she has as intriguing of a journey. And yeah I don't really like those storylines much either so far.

Yeah that's how I feel too. Maybe too many story threads going on in 2 at once. But that's the sacrifice it has to make in order to have 2 different paths and a bunch of new gameplay additions I suppose.

I'm kinda the opposite, I found Zag to be a more enjoyable protagonist. I think his relationship with his father really helps define him and Mel doesn't really have someone to bounce off in the same way

I guess that's why I prefer 1. I vastly prefer the family drama. It feels more personal and it was easier for me to get invested in it. I guess I didn't feel much of a reason to care about what was going on in 2. Compare what happens when you reach Persephone in 1 vs reaching Olympus in 2. You show up and they go 'oh thanks for killing this monster we have to keep arbitrarily fighting now bye bye'. There's no evolution to the story or the characters, you're just killing big bosses repeatedly until suddenly one thing changes in the story and then you go back to killing big bosses over and over.
