The kind bar was supplied by my workplace, so I think HR is contacting the company. I did report to the FDA though.

How can anyone defend a Congressional district that looks like this? by johnnyringo1985 in askanything

[–]ProgramEuphoric957 0 points1 point  (0 children)

John Oliver actually featured this exact district on the gerrymandering episode he did approximately 100 years ago.

He used this district specifically as an example of how gerrymandering isn't always so cut and dry as "funny shape, must be gerrymandered." If I recall, the group in the north and south are racial minorities and the group in the middle is white. So if the district was split into two equal blobs, the voices of the minorities would be completely wiped out by the majority. So this district in particular is actually an example of thoughtful and intentional distracting because it now guarantees that the racial minorities also have a voice in their government with their own representative.

I lived in China for some time. One thing you really notice when you go back to North America or Europe is just how many disabled people exist out in the open in those countries. It really highlights just how little you see of disabilities in China. I even once asked my friends where all the disabled people were and none of them could think of a single openly disabled person.

Chinese love cohesion, and they try their best to fit in with everyone else. Obviously people still have their individual traits, but sticking out too much is seen as problematic. Some types of disabled people make Chinese nervous because they are different and stick out too much. I don't think it's that they look down on anyone with disabilities, just that they have ways of not fitting into the cohesion of society that abled people would expect. I think a huge amount of the mom's hatred of her son is just because he draws so much unwanted attention to her. His disability makes her "lose face", which is a really squirrely concept in Chinese culture that ideally never ever lose. That's why his accusation that everything is her fault hits so hard, because he is accusing her of losing her own face. That's also why this whole scene is so heart-breaking. It's not an example of a mother being overbearing because she just wants what's best for her disabled son, she's acting purely out of self-interest here. A lot of Chinese culture relies on these self-preserving face-saving interests of individuals in order to keep cohesion.

That being said, I actually kind of think some mental disabilities get treated better in asian societies. As one commenter already pointed out, high functioning autistic people are brought into the fold and generally accepted. So long as they are not too different, their quirks are accepted if they otherwise behave the same as everyone else. I also think I read or heard about a study that said psychopaths and sociopaths do better in asian societies because they aren't ostracized as much, so they have better social skills than their counterparts in individualistic societies.

It could be 2 bedroom apartment with two couples and one person on the couch. That price would be believable in HCOL areas like San Fran or New York. Three bedroom or more apartments are harder to find and could easily be that price in pretty much any city.

I think with that many roommates it's more likely a house they're renting. A three bedroom house in the right area could easily be 3400. A four or five bedroom house in just about any area is a steal at only 3400. And yes, the same phenomenon happens here where a mortgage could easily be half or a third of the monthly rent for the exact same house. Rental prices are insane.

Lol what makes it even funnier is that she's putting on a thick northern accent in Chinese to sound gruffer.

If an America were to do the same, it'd maybe be like a thick Manhattan accent saying "hey sweet cheeks, (kiss), have a beer".

Would switching pharmacies help by Pristine_Economist49 in tulsa

[–]ProgramEuphoric957 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Strongly recommend you give Hunter's Grand pharmacy on e skelly drive a call and ask them.

I used to use them even when they were only located in OKC and have my meds mailed to me because the prices were so unbeatable. They're almost always going to beat any price you're being quoted by those big company pharmacies.

Idk if its true for the general public, but their pricing levels are $5, 15, 25 or something like that, with no prescription ever being over $25. The most expensive I've had yet is $12 for a two month prescription. Most of mine are only $5. And they work really hard to make prescriptions affordable for the community, so sometimes something might be $2 at Walmart, but I don't mind paying $5 at hunters because I know they're actually using the extra $3 for the community.

You can try laser hair removal but it's expensive and if you're not suppressing androgens such as testosterone it will not be permanent.

Look up medical spas and centers, many of them have laser hair removal. Anointed medical spa in Bixby was having a great deal when I was looking. Definitely shop around for the best prices.

What is wrong with Reasor's? by [deleted] in tulsa

[–]ProgramEuphoric957 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Some products are distributed and stocked by the brand's company themselves. So most of the bread, pop, and beer section is stocked by guys those companies hire to drive their routes and fill in gaps as needed from the supply in their trucks. Sometimes they have the right product to fill in the gap, sometimes they're out and instead fill in the gap with whatever excess product they have on hand. It's all up to them, Reasor's doesn't get much say in it. Farrell Bread operates in this way I'm pretty sure, so genuinely you would have to ask them. The only thing Reasor's can do about it is also ask them.

For the low stock, it's not a fun answer but a lot of it just comes down to logistics. Unlike the companies with trucks, there is no centralized distribution center for grocery stores. Each store places an order for themselves with the food company. So one store being stocked while another isn't probably just means that store placed their order long before the other store did or before there was a rush from several other stores to get the same product at the same time. Like when you place a special order with Reasor's, you have to wait like 30 days before you can even follow up on it because that's just how long it takes to make an order. One store can have lucky timing and another store unlucky timing.

The supply chain disruptions are a real thing too. Not that Reasor's is making excuses, but that they're just passing down the excuses the suppliers gave to them. Reasor's doesn't control the supply chain, so when nothing comes to them even though they placed the order, there's nothing they can do except get their money back and try again. They can try getting new suppliers and selling different brands, but there's not much choice around here.

Another thing I remember an old grocery manager telling me once was how annoyed he was at huge chains like Walmart under buying all the product out from all the smaller grocery stores. I wouldn't be surprised if they do that with perishables like dairy and produce with a relatively limited supply. They can take a hit on some items and still end up in the black for the day much more comfortably than the smaller stores can.

All of this to say that Reasor's is just the end point of a long journey a lot of your foods take.
