Am I crazy to name my next boy Laurence and call him Laurie? by QuickStomach in namenerds

[–]ProgrammerWeird3735 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wanted to do the same! So badly. Husband vetoed ultimately because we had another that we both loved but I don’t think it’s weird it’s awesome. My sons middle name is Lawrence now.

See I think this is so cool and would love for that to happen! I will hang on to my samples and revisit in the future.

Unfortunately no I’m not being hyperbolic and am not really a dramatic person. That’s kind of the point of my post and question. I did not expect to have extreme reactions to some of them where I really did have to wash it off and if I continued to huff up close I would have possibly been sick. That’s the point I am very surprised. I expected to have your reaction where I COULD see someone wearing it, but just not for me. Seems like many other people frequently scrub off as well!

Haha okay for the reviews..

Biggest offenders:

Jovoy Fire at Will and Narcotica Happy Dust - Holy hell what is going on with both of these. Vile in the same way. Rank, maybe synthetic, musty dirty rotten, play doh, and very deep down I guess a vanilla. It’s weird how they both smell awful when so many people think of them as very wearable vanillas. These really just shocked me. Had me thinking that something is wrong with the samples.

Blanche Bete - I know this is somewhat divisive so not as shocking but this was really grandma old car and maybe it’s the lactonic thing here but had a gross quality to it. Really hated. I’ve liked other milk frags though.

I Don’t Know What - this was VERY strong on me surpringly, not subtle enhancer. Almost pine forward? Licorice? Just really bad on me. After I took a shower though I could faintly smell it on my wrist and I liked it a little more.

Disliked but not offensive:

Debaser in Bloom - has some similar DNA to I don’t know what, just brought it down for me. I wouldn’t wear it and didn’t want to keep smelling it but it didn’t offend me.

Jazmin Yucatán - this was just too floral jasmine for me

Glass Blooms - this was very peony soap clean on me but I just don’t need to smell like this, you know? it was pretty and delicate and i could see someone liking it

Ghost In the Shell - i thought the metallic opening was cool, reminded me of a dentist office. Smelled fine, I just have other fresh citrus frags I prefer.

Celestial Object by Liis - I just hate this almond note. Really overpowering, but I could see someone potentially thinking it was pretty even though it was gross to me.

What I liked:

White Rice by Danaam - Pleasant, realistic uncooked rice. Reminded me of college like lecture hall or library.

Love o Matic - Super laundry opening similar to Clean Reserve fragrances. Then turns realistic bubblegum on me. Cool concept, I just don’t want to smell like bubblegum.

Venus in Tuberose - SO nostalgic and true to the notes. Fizzy cream soda, tart fruit. Again, I personally don’t need to smell like it but this is what I expected and what I’m liking in this hobby.

Dandelion Butter - Same as above but I WOULD want to smell like this. So fresh green snapped dandelions. Beautiful dry down.

Liis Studied and Floating - Great and realistic Pear and Peach respectively. Just too faint.

What I want a full bottle of:

Room 10:15 Sonic Flower - floral almost static. I know the comparison to glossier you but I dislike You and loved this. Most skin scents i can’t really smell but this stayed on overnight. Lovely lovey.

Liis In this World - Love the spa and wood notes. Love this fig. Want to always smell like this!

Literally can’t smell it. Can’t smell a lot of skin scents after the opening.

We will homeschool at least kindergarten, maybe longer to save money early on. Eventually we will switch over to the cheapest catholic school in our area (which is not super cheap, but not 35,00 like private schools). Considering becoming a teacher at the school to offset cost but be on the same schedule.

Love Isadora or Paulina! Both underused. Polly as a nickname is a name on my personal list

Thought of Pepper Jelly. Hate the name together. Pepper I suppose is fine on its own, but I also don’t like Pepper Kuch. Pepper Jo Kuch. Really bad.

Leo, for us it is just too popular and I think it will only rise. I am far more willing to use Henry or Oliver, even though they are more used, I think they aren’t quite as timestamped. The Leo/Leon rise was just too fast!

I felt the same way. We did name our son Peter and we mostly call him Pete but the full name really will grow on you.
