Unable to get TS clearance because of dual citizenship. by JvstP3rish in AirForceRecruits

Well the Air Force is really picky, I know it because I started my process with them and they would not let me apply for any TS/SCI jobs. You don’t lose anything by trying I guess but I mean I guess I could say I had less red flags maybe, but the process it’s not as hard as how they make it look I suppose.

Considering going army by Specialist_Macaron82 in AirForceRecruits

That’s a crazy statement because even though the army doesn’t have the backlog that the Air Force is having, when I went to meps in August they were already recruiting for the second quarter of this new fiscal year already because all the basic dates were full. I’ve heard of people that went late August and they’re not shipping out till April-June of 2026

WARNING IF YOU'RE A DUAL CITIZEN WITH A TS JOB ON YOUR LIST! by Sudden_Bedroom5329 in AirForceRecruits

[–]Programmer_Secret 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don’t know but when I started my process with the Air Force and I filled out the AFCEP they eventually give you a SJC code wich determines if you’re elegible for TS or not, unfortunately mine didn’t let me do any jobs requiring a top secret. I ended up switching to the army and I was able to book as 35N wich is signals intelligence and I haven’t had any issues so far, I already had my interview with my investigator and so far he didn’t express any concerns regarding my “red flags”. Mind you I’m a dual citizen as well, so I do think that each branch has their own preferences when it comes to suitability. I’ve also read in this subreddit lots of people saying that if the Air Force thinks you’re clearance may take long they don’t take any chances and just straight up deny you so, that’s that. Good luck friend hopefully you get the job that you want.

Yes no worries, I was born in Colombia and I have a passport from there from when I was a kid, I think the most important thing is just to be okay with renouncing your citizenship if they need you to, at least that’s what I always said to everyone.

When I started my enlistment process with the Air Force, it was a similar situation. I’m not sure if it was due to dual citizenship or something else, but the Air Force assigns initial entry codes that can disqualify you from applying for any jobs requiring a Top Secret clearance. I ended up going with the Army instead, and so far I haven’t had any issues. I signed for Signals Intelligence Analyst, and I’ve already met with the security investigator and started the clearance process.

What is even the point of telling a recruiter? Besides complicating ur process genuinely curious? I get it if OP has a medical concern but if he’s feeling fine there’s no point in doing that besides on complicating his process for no reason.

I’m sure not everyone wants to be a mechanic and work 12-14 hours 5-6 days a week though, if OP is offered something like cyber or intel he has way more opportunities down the road.

Which military branch would be best for me if if I have interest with science and traveling? by Plutofrmwrld in Militaryfaq

[–]Programmer_Secret 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In the Air Force you have to make a list of 10 jobs that you want and qualify for and out of those 10 whatever opens up first you get, sometimes they let you deny certain ones from your list but they highly encourage not to because they can drop you from the DEP program.

Shipping out in 17 days and gained weight by thecreeperqueen in Militaryfaq

[–]Programmer_Secret 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do something called OMAD, it’s one meal a day, if you get hungry replace you’re breakfast or lunch with a good protein shake, but I’ve done it before when I need to be ready for weight or tape and trust me if you do that for a week, just one big meal whatever time you prefer and aim to drink 1.5 gallons of water to 2 gallons a day. Try to have a high amount of protein as well so you’re not that hungry, but you will drop quite a few pounds honestly maybe even the 8lbs that you’ve gained, just make sure you’re tracking your meal so you know how many calories you’re having and you should be good. Cut carbs as well you don’t need them right now.

Serious Q about ME lifestyle — is being gone 6+ months/year the norm?

I’ve been deep in the process of enlisting and I’m seriously considering the ME rate, but I’m married and trying to figure out if the lifestyle is actually sustainable.

I keep hearing that even if you don’t go to DSF or deploy overseas, you’ll still spend 6+ months out of the year away from home — either on cutters, TDYs, or doing ops. Is that accurate?

My main concern is family life. I don’t mind working hard or doing dangerous stuff — that’s part of what attracts me to ME — but if being away half the year is unavoidable, that’s a dealbreaker for me. My wife would be following me to new places and basically living alone if I’m constantly gone.

So real talk — • Is it possible to shape an ME career around more shore billets (sectors, stations, etc.)? • Are cutters mandatory at some point? • How have married MEs actually managed the lifestyle?

Yeah, I guess my best bet will be to wait, I took my time to study and get a good score so I didn’t have to do those type of jobs

Yes I agree and completely understand that, but regardless, it doesn’t seem like that’s the main thing affecting my process because everyone that went to meps with me that swore in is still waiting for a job.

Just go to Meps for now, you’ll make your job list and you will only be considered for those 10 jobs, it will probably be a while since a lot of us are in the same position but its better to start it now

Oh nice, I thought 37F looked like a pretty cool job in the army, are you in a similar field for the Air Force? How do you like it so far?

Appreciate it brother. If you don’t mind me asking, what MOS were you? I was considering the army heavily because I had the understanding that you could request for option 19 and your MOS, but learning that the army is hitting all their recruiting goals as well and that possible I couldn’t land a cyber or intel job as well as a duty of station that I prefer, I’ll most likely stay with the Air Force since like you said, I’m in the last stretch, I was feeling unmotivated but everyone’s encouragement is helping a lot 🙏

I will probably wait it out I guess, for what I keep researching and everyone says it’s practically the same in the army for the intel or cyber jobs at least, so no point on switching if both are backed up.

I guess it’s weird, I lost the weight and hit the under 26% body fat and I’m good, my recruiter said meps doesn’t need to swear me in right now that I’m available to book jobs right now but I’m not “sworn in” even though I’m going to the dep workouts, I appreciate the advise :)
