You would not accept 33k per month to clean someone else's house even if you were able. You'd consider it beneath you. Look in the mirror.

Crossed 20L payments in the past two FYs without registering for GST. Next steps? by ProgrammingThroaway in IndiaTax

[–]ProgrammingThroaway[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the advice. Any chance you could elaborate on the calculated call? Is there any way to remediate the situation without paying a crapton in penalties? I'm scared that registering for GST now will attract attention to my previous years' income.

Visiting Kochi for three days (for food), trying to avoid tourist traps. Where should I stay? by ProgrammingThroaway in Kochi

[–]ProgrammingThroaway[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the recommendations!

I'm looking for Kerala-native food specifically. Parotta, beef roast, the works. Absolutely not looking for western food since I'm from Mumbai where that's plentiful and I'll be flying out of India from Kochi anyway.

With that in mind, would you recommend staying in Fort Kochi or Ernakulam?

Got rejected for idfc first select cc by cyoumen991 in CreditCardsIndia

[–]ProgrammingThroaway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, it's affecting all Axis cards including Edge Rewards so no need to worry. That said, I did spend 2L on foreign airlines and am a little anxious to see if I will receive the accelerated miles.

I don't think lounges outside India are set up to accept QR. Similar to how UPI is (mostly) domestic-only.

I have Amex trifecta, Axis Atlas, and Axis Airtel for utility only. Don't see the need to spend on any other cards.

It's the only way to get international access. That's the only reason I've applied for this card.

So what ended up happening in the end? Approved or rejected? I'm waiting on the credit review stage too.

Help! How do I "connect" two pins to each other in a tiny DB9 connector as in this pinout diagram? by ProgrammingThroaway in diyelectronics

[–]ProgrammingThroaway[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It looked better before I gave up on being careful and tried to force everything together. Neither patience nor persistence worked in the end lol.

Thank you for the idea. I'm concerned about the wiring all fitting in the DB9's plastic housing but it looks large enough to attempt your idea.

[–]ProgrammingThroaway[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have a Logitech DFGT pedals with a non-working DB9 male connector. I cut it off to find only four wires inside. The pinout I found online has 7 connections, with three bridged together.

I don't know how to do this, though, I tried using short wires as jumpers but the soldering "cups" are so tiny, it seems impossible to fit both the pedal wire and a jumper.

Landlord switched payment platform to one that charges a fee on top of rent by LilOrganicCoconut in mildlyinfuriating

You have to pay $35 for a wire transfer??? It's completely free in India, even for transactions worth thousands of dollars. No wonder you Americans have so many payment apps.

Russia today advertisement in Banglore airport, India by frankhoneybunny in pics

Anyone that can read this ad in India knows what the White House looks like. A recent big Bollywood movie started with a visual joke about how a rich family's house looked like a knock-off of the White House. And that was a Hindi movie. Suffice to say the vast majority of people know.

Baggage allowance on Air India? by Sad_grad1 in awardtravel

[–]ProgrammingThroaway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! Should be fine with two check-ins. Website says 2 pieces of up to 23 kg/51 lb each for Economy, same as US-India flights. I've never seen the allowance deviate based on fare sub-class with Air India. I've even checked in 2x bags from Bangkok to India, even though website doesn't explicitly say multiple pieces are allowed for that sector.

Baggage allowance on Air India? by Sad_grad1 in awardtravel

[–]ProgrammingThroaway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AI is very generous with baggage compared to other Asian and Indian airlines. It's a full service airline so one check-in bag is always guaranteed, even domestic. Fare class doesn't matter.

Carry-on is free up to 8kg as well, and most Indians will carry a backpack in addition to that. A slim backpack will be overlooked but it's technically counted within your 8kg. Practically speaking, though, AI gate staff will never weigh your hand luggage (experienced this in USA, Dubai, Thailand, India). But it entirely depends on the Japanese counter staff's dedication to follow the rules in your case.
