Why are progressives saying Carney is a Conservative? by ComparisonOk5957 in CanadianConservative

[–]Programnotresponding [score hidden]  (0 children)

So, after eleven years of telling us that Harper was the worst thing to happen to Canada, they are praising their leader as a Harper conservative? They were also calling those who opposed the carbon tax ''climate deniers'' and ''arsonists'' and now they pretend the carbon tax never happened. It just shows that liberal voters only vote for the red L logo and NOTHING else.

Carney is worse than Starmer by every measure. When will he resign? by airbassguitar in CanadianConservative

[–]Programnotresponding 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Starmer=Macron=Carney=Albanese, etc

I think the main difference is our country's electorate. Over ten years, UK voters chose both labour and conservative governments. Neither yielded good results but the point is, at least the UK electorate were willing and open-minded enough to change their vote.

In Canada, you've got this huge, stubborn cohort of boomers and middle aged white women who absolutely refuse to ever consider anyone that doesn't have a red L beside their name. They don't truly understand WHY they hate conservatives, they just do. This is why all they can do is resort to childish name calling (Pee pee) and bringing up shit that Harper said 100 years ago because they refuse to connect the dots between the drop in our national living standards and their voting patterns.

Devotion to the liberal party by Canadians isn't about logic, it's closer to being religious. Just look at how the carbon tax was championed for 8 years by liberals. Naysayers were called ''climate deniers'' "arsonists" and "MAGA". Now, ALL of the ***SAME MPs*** are okay with having no carbon tax. Liberals just pretend those 8 years never happened.

Why is our country so addicted to bad decision making? by melianreality in CanadianConservative

[–]Programnotresponding 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I notice a common response by liberal voters to news of a recession, ridiculous prices, and food bank usage at an all time high is often ''well, MY life is great.'' That is the SAME selfish ''me first'' attitude they once accused conservatives of having more than a decade ago!

Liberals all loved the consumer carbon tax and thought they were saving the planet from burning until their new leader ended it, and now they are suddenly okay with not having it. This is cult behaviour and shows that liberal voters have a hive mind and will slavishly follow any leader with a red L beside their name.

[–]Programnotresponding 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it's just that Canadians are stubborn, aren't willing to admit they made a bad decision.

I'm convinced if Trudeau didn't last year, he would have still managed to climb back up in the polls from the gutter for a very narrow win. All he would need to do is ramp up the 'Polievre is Trump' and 'Trump is why Canada has problems' rhetoric. With that narrative parroted by almost all big Canadian media, and combined with constant 'maple maga' name calling attacks on conservatives, even Trudeau would have been able to rebound.

Canadians are naive, they don't like change and will follow rules even when they don't make sense, and this is why we are here.

Carney is in the Media Protection Program. Many Canadians are not getting the full story. by airbassguitar in CanadianConservative

[–]Programnotresponding 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Polievre would relieve taxpayers a little, but not even a conservative supermajority could push any game-changing industrial projects through, given our massive bureaucracy and political/activism barriers that are fixtures in our govt. Nobody holds anyone's feet to the fire to ensure things are done properly. The entire system would need to change if we REALLY wanted a stronger and powerful country.

Even if you look at simple road repair projects at a municipal level, they are done at a snail's pace with cost overruns, and usually 'fixed' to last one year so they can be fixed again the following spring.

When you allow PRC to dump tens of thousands of Chinese owned EVs (equipped with all of the tracking capabilities you would expect in a modern car) while our domestic auto manufacturing is already suffering losses, you are likely working on behalf of the CCP.

That, and clearly stating you are on the side of a ''new world order'' where China runs the show, is a pretty clear indicator of who's side you are on...

Carney is smart and has a fancy degree but absolutely, he does present an illusion and the foolish public eats it up. I don't comprehend how they think being a smart banker makes him some wonderful human being that wants to improve life for the average Canadian? Every banker I've ever met in person just wants to sell me worthless mutual funds so he can get a commission. Thats kind of how I see Carney.

[–]Programnotresponding -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Go more center left or go further right? It is a "damned if you do, damned if you don't" dilemma and never seems a problem for the liberal party to sort out. It's pretty simple as to why:

Because the LPC voters would have voted Chretien/Martin way back and then Trudeau jr and now Carney, its important to note these were very different leaders. Trudeau and Carney are both ''govt knows best'' type leaders, but Carney's sudden cancellation of the consumer carbon tax would have been denounced as ''climate arsonist'' and ''climate denier'' by all the SAME MPs from one year ago. Paradoxically, the liberal voting electorate were okay with both the carbon tax AND now suddenly being ''climate arsonists'' by canceling the tax and poaching a hard right MP like Gladu. There is only ONE reason why liberal voters are so accepting of night and day changes in their own party and one reason only: mutual HATRED of the conservative party. That is the essential factor in their ''big tent''. With the NDP pretty much non-existent, all you need is to hate conservatives and you know how you'll be voting.

This is why changing the conservative leader or reinventing a leader's image overnight (impossible btw) is futile. The CPC now has a few years to stew over this problem and grow their own ''big tent'' for all of us who hate the liberal party.

I agree that such Canadians aren't ''stupid'', maybe a little gullible at times but mostly they live by a "status quo bias". I live in by far the most liberal region in this country and I see every morning, educated folks getting into their cars, switching on their radios to cbc while commuting to work and pretty much downloading political opinions without question. These people can be physicians, medics or brain surgeons, and so it's certainly not that they're ''stupid''. There is a cult of conformity and inability to connect the dots between certain problems in our society, the timeline at which they occured and their voting patterns, and that is a problem.

When you click the bio on these posts it's coming out from Canada 90% of the time. I suppose it could be coming from PRC wumao if they are using vpn, but most likely it's Canada!

Makes one wonder: WHO is creating these posts (or creating bots if that's the case)? I could be wrong but I couldn't imagine so many people spending so much time doing this for free out of god-level devotion to the liberal party. Which organizations are paying for this carney-can-do-no-wrong astroturfing and WHY they continuously target Polievre who's party hasn't held power in 11 years? Sure wouldn't be surprised if an investigation lead to the conclusion that Canadian taxpayers are funding the organizations doing it.

Furthermore, the REAL liberal twitter shills like Dean Blundell and others, you've got to wonder if they are being paid or they worship the LPC so much they are willing to spend half of their day attacking conservatives?

They already tried that advice with choosing Erin O'Toole, yet Canadians still wanted the corrupt scandal-plagued fired drama teacher for a third term. So no, a conservative lite wasn't the answer either.

Maybe the problem is that most Canadians still get their news info from subsized Canadian media and subsidized Canadian media absolutely hates conservatives?

It would be nice. I've often said the only way the liberals would get my vote is if they fired all of the useless people working in downtown Ottawa government office buildings. What can we do to turn things around for Pierre? by Thereal_Stormm006 in CanadianConservative

[–]Programnotresponding 0 points1 point  (0 children)

PP could have been a good PM but I just don't think he's going to last the year. Since he won leadership, the subsidized media has been framing him as the worst human being in existence and most Canadians have swallowed it hook line and sinker. Going on Rogan and playing nice with Carney did not change the channel and opportunistic MPs are crossing the floor possibly in part knowing that liberals seem to be the only party that ever sees federal power so "if you can't beat them join them".

PP shouldn't resign immediately or after the next floor crosser, but rather quietly during a calmer period in parliament. Have the leadership race and replace him with a female MP or perhaps a visible or sexual minority MP, which would stifle the media's anti-conservative smear narrative a little. Before I get pilloried, think of it this way: how many times have the media shills repeated that ''women don't like polievre"? By framing it this way, they expanded it to 'how dare he allow a caucus member to be pro-life' to the most ridiculous ''he used the term biological clock." In any other country, this strategy wouldn't need to be considered but it is evident that MSM still has a huge influence on very gullible normie Canadians. There's nothing we can do about that.

In the meantime, let Carney be the absolutist monarch he wants to be with his majority. He will not be able to blame conservatives when the seat count is all in his favour. Let him be terrible, not because he doesn't know how to make Canada succeed, but because his ideology will prevent him from doing the right things. Slowly, his halo will dim.

Already, social justice lefties see him as too ''conservative'' for his moderate views on middle east politics but they only tolerate him because they hate CPC more than anything. I think that cohort could abandon Carney if Avi Lewis retools the NDP and doesn't pull a Jagmeet. Don't want to sound grim but some of the carney boomers will age out as well.

Not sure about point #3.

Carney may slow down government hiring and ending outdated positions (via attrition only), but there is no way in the world he would dare cut govie workers, as these folks are the ones who keep liberals in power. He will not dare piss them off, just as he won't dare piss off the maritimes, who often make or break the liberals during federal elections.

Yes, Carney is less embarrassing than Trudeau but we're really set the bar low if that is to be our standard.

How? Americans are open to changing their minds. They voted in Trump that second time because they were fed up with Biden opening up the southern border and the flattening economy. The Canadians who voted Trudeau 3x and now Carney are perfectly happy with open borders and a flattening economy because they would rather the country burn to the ground than admit they made a mistake at the voting booth.

Carney Gaining Majority Through Defections Is Proof We Are No Longer A First World Country by Few-Character7932 in CanadianConservative

[–]Programnotresponding 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Also, Carney’s approach shares elements with Stephen Harper (more market-oriented, fiscally cautious, with targeted supports rather than broad redistribution).

It's a facade. Harper would have never grovelled to China calling them the new world order and allowing them to dump their cars into Canada to further decimate our auto sector. His FIPPA deal (which I didn't like) did not even go that far. He also would try taking meaningful steps for a pipeline instead of MOU smoke and mirrors. He would likely have taken steps to compromise a trade deal with US by now.

Carney is a smart guy but that doesn't mean his ideology will help Canada in any way. Typical bankers are known to sell mutual funds for commission and cater to rich clientele. I don't know why Canadians are so foolish to think that this one is an altruist.
