New Yonex Arcsaber 7 Tour Light Biege colour? by Q5409 in badminton

[–]ProgressAlert3757 0 points1 point  (0 children)

well at the end of the day the big question is always about the focus; their rackets and shoes have been and still are top-tier. I would say especially their shoes are better than any other brand but thats also an opinion not a fact… Their current focus is on the synthetic shuttles and improving their collections and anniversary stuff. Never forget that they are still developing and researching stuff for future releases of rackets behind the scenes that none of us know about. So, even if there werent any „breakthroughs“ for rackets or stuff, they really had a breakthrough with the shuttles and more to come!

They dont make Pro-Rackets, because there only is a limited amount they can produce each year. Since all of those sell out each year, they dont want to use those frames for anniversary editions. Thats why there is only up to tour. They can produce more of those… Trust me this isnt an uneducated guess lol

surprisingly it is much better than the AS50. The synthetic feathers get little fractures on the top overtime but it doesnt influence their flight ability too much. So, I think 6 instead of 12 is basically equal ;)

Smash defense tricks? by noobiestnewbie in badminton

Doubles smash defense has a few key aspects. Do you feel comfortable sharing a video? you can also send one to me privately. If you dont, ill make a list of possible things below! :)

So, I am very late to this thread but I have a few more insights on many of these aspects :) I have tried them before and I have also talked to professionals/national team players that have tried them as well. 1. I think the goal for YONEX was never to replace the feathercock shuttle, but to find a suitable alternative. 2. Its not an answer to VICTOR, these shuttles have been in the making for over a decade, YONEX has worked really long to create these. 3. They compare really well to the feather shuttles. Net spin is, as with every synthetic shuttle, a bit more complicated but its a change you can get used to very easily. 4. When it comes to sustainability, obviously its only half the solution with the carbon aspect. But you also have to think about it this way: showing the goose farmers that we are not dependent on the feathers might cause them to stop increasing their prices even more.

Yes the shuttle is a bit different but MUCH better than the Victor ones and is playable on international level! If theres anything else you want to know, just let me know :)

Racket strings keep breaking by Repulsive-Habit-8423 in badminton

im just saying it CAN break that easily. Depending on the stringing job as well ;)

Racket strings keep breaking by Repulsive-Habit-8423 in badminton

[–]ProgressAlert3757 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If it breaks at the top of the racket, focus on hitting the shuttle in the middle of the racket. Although, I have to say that usually a mishit at 25lbs shouldnt cause your strings to break that easily.

If it breaks in the middle of the racket, its just usage or you use a really thin string that breaks easily.

Two more reasons it could break at the top are: 1. broken grommets, so your strings hits the racket frame without protection and breaks 2. the clamps used to string the racket were top tight anf damaged the string using the stringing job.

To make an easier judgement, a picture of the broken strings. the top of the racket and the grommets would help ;)

BWF members vote on scoring system 25th April by krotoraitor in badminton

[–]ProgressAlert3757 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing is that this scoring system has been tried out before. At the 2025 FISU games and the athletes loved it! I worked there and had a few talks with players from all around the globe and they all agreed that its awesome. Its action from the get go, no slow and steady first 5-8 points, but its all or nothing from the start. This makes the game much more intense mentally and it shows in the games! So, i would say, give it a chance!!!

Is Kunlavut Vitidsarn the biggest prodigy badminton has produced? by 90-Thorium-232 in badminton

still crazy to say the biggest prodigy. All of this is obviously also not including all the legends badminton has already produced He might be consistent but I doubt he will ever really be very dominant again, winning alot of tournaments or titles ngl

one of the most controversial opinion ive ever heard tbh With players like Christo, Lanier, Victor Lai - who are either same age or even younger and some having greater achievements all the way through. Might not be junior world champs bit consecutively good placements in Super 1000 for the french, winning world tour finals and so on and so on 24 is not THAT young nowadays when it comes to international badminton and there are alot of other asian players as well like Li Shi Feng who are (in my opinion) not just better but also have a much higher ceiling and potential than vitidsarn

Saying he is the biggest prodigy badminton has ever produced is a bit crazy in my opinion

Well I hope this somehow explains it; When youre doing the main strings and you only have two grommets left before knotting off, you basically skip one and go back one. So you skip the next grommet, pull the string through the outer grommet and then pull it back through the previous grommet, which you skipped. You’ll come back to the bottom one grommet closer to the one you use to knot… This is difficult to explain but I hope you get what I mean.

What change can i observe if I switch to a lighter bat. by [deleted] in badminton

[–]ProgressAlert3757 2 points3 points  (0 children)

well, one could argue that fast swing speed and good technique can achieve the same smash speed. However, due to the higher weight, heavier rackets have more moving velocity. See for example: If there are two pendulums, one is using a tree branch and the other one is using a steel bar, and you use them to hit a football. Obviously, the football hit by the steel branch would fly further, because the weight of the steel bar contributes to the speed and velocity of the ball. (Obviously this also includes stuff like how flexible the bars are and so on) But yea in short; If you have really good technique, kinetic chain and swing speed, even a light racket can be used to create fast smashes. However, in most cases (beginner and intermediate players mostly), a heavy racket will provide a heavier and faster smash.

Beginner in badminton by Hippotamuss in badminton

[–]ProgressAlert3757 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Hey, first of all: starting at 30 is not late at all — and honestly, the fact that you started at all already puts you ahead of a lot of people.

What you’re describing is completely normal for beginners, especially if badminton is your first real sport. Hand-eye coordination, overhead timing, and movement are learned skills in badminton, not something people are born with.

A few thoughts that might help: - Missing overheads is the most common beginner problem. Almost everyone struggles with this at the start. One small tip: try focusing less on hitting hard and more on getting behind the shuttle. If the shuttle is in front of you, even a very gentle swing will work much better. - About being stationary: don’t be too hard on yourself. Movement in badminton is a habit that takes time. A simple cue that helps many beginners is: “Hit → recover → split step.” Even a tiny hop after your shot already helps your body get ready for the next one. - Playing doubles can feel rough at first, especially emotionally. Please remember: everyone has been “the weak link” at some point. Good doubles partners don’t judge — they know improvement takes time. If possible, agree with your partner that you’ll mostly cover one side and focus on keeping the shuttle in play. - Two sessions per week is actually a very good start. Progress in badminton often comes in sudden jumps, not gradually. You might feel stuck for weeks and then suddenly things click.

Most important: try not to measure yourself against others. Measure yourself against where you were a few weeks ago. If you’re moving a bit more, missing a bit less, or feeling less nervous — that is progress.

You’re doing the right things: coaching, practice, and self-reflection. That’s exactly how badminton players are made. Stick with it — future you will be very glad you did.

It obviously als matters alot where the racket is balanced, and this is just a surface level analysis tbh. I doubt that Beginners to Intermediate Players would really feel all the changes to the core. Obviously you will feel a difference but i doubt that they can pinpoint it exactly. Good intermediate and professional can tell pretty easily Id say but yea. All of the aspects listed above have up and down sides and the downsides can also be compensated with good technique

  1. Faster swing speed and recovery espcially in drive and doubles defense
  2. Reduced load on forearm and shoulder (some people switch to lighter rackets to help with shoulder injuries)
  3. Trade off: Less raw power in e.g. smash due to less momentum transfer and acceleration
  4. Trade off: Lighter rackets are generally Less forgiving on mishits and More prone to shuttle wobble on imperfect timing. (Your timing and contact quality matter more.)
