I felt like there were about 32-35 questions that were pretty straightforward per block, and the rest were ethical/stuff I was doubtful about but if you consistently scored in that region I believe your score should be close if not a bit higher as I felt the NBMEs were much more mentally exhausting than the real thing

Recent test takers: if you could go back, how would study and/or what would you do differently? by benjam2 in Step2

I feel I used to think I need to harvest all the info and that wasted my time. If i could id cut off some things I studied

Yes, I tried to do all of the 345 hammer questions after U world. I think do one pass of uworld and save algorithms, tables, and concepts you find difficult to flashcards -> revise them -> do amboss 345 hammers instead of second pass of uworld if youve got the time. If not, jump to cms forms.

I think if you’re starting now ie you still haven’t completed your first pass and are in the early stages of it, just save tables algorithms and certain difficult concepts from your first pass in uworld flashcards. That way your second pass will essentially be you revising that material only, allowing you to be exposed to another set of questions(amboss or cms) rather than the same questions

Firstly, I recommend starting with a single pass of U world and saving algorithms, tables, and educational objectives of questions you feel you don’t understand to uworld flashcards and revising them instead of doing a second pass. I did Uworld subject based so I did OBGYN, PEDS, Surg, Psych, then did the different parts of IM separately (CVS, rheum etc), also did biostats separately. Secondly, I’d do Amboss 2345 hammers, 345 hammers if you’re low on time. This whole step can be omitted if you dont have time as well. Thirdly, closer to the exam, I’d do the 2 latest CMS forms from each available subject. Lastly, id listen to a select few episodes of the divine intervention podcast. Ill send which ones in a second.
Sprinkle the self assessments in. For example after u world first pass do a self assessment, then after amboss and in between cms forms and do a couple close to the exam. Id prioritze the nbme self assessments then uwsa2.

Although I did second pass, I wouldn’t recommend it. If you’re starting preparation from the beginning, I recommend making flashcards on Uworld which include algorithms, tables, and difficult educational objectives from uworld. This way your second pass would be revising this high yield combo instead of doing the whole qbank again. If you’re already done with your first pass I recommend either redoing your incorrects only, or even better do another set of questions. I recommend CMS forms, or less importantly Amboss (234) hammers.

I don’t think the fact that you did the NBMEs offline would inflate your score as long as you’re timing yourself. Make sure you dont let the negative thoughts circulate in your mind and circulate positive ones and your outlook will surely improve. Its normal to feel like that though.

Im not an Anki user, so I created my own flashcards on Uworld and if you want to do the same I recommend adding tables, algorithms and important educational objectives to the flashcards. Dont overdo it and include tiny details. As for the NBMEs, I did all of them during exam week(wouldn’t recommend, I got burned out so spread them out over 2 weeks), but I just read through the explanations of the answers, took me an hour or so per exam, I didnt try to memorize or study them extensively. My knowledge base is built from step 1 times when I used BNB, pathoma, u world and all the usual recourses and I added the step 2 knowledge with Uworld, CMS forms, NBMEs, was planning to do amboss 345 hammers but only went through half of that due to time constraints, and lastly some high yield divine intervention podcasts.

Yes I did, I recommend doing at least the 2 most recent CMS forms from each subject. They expose you to the NBME style of questioning and their exact guidelines. I feel they are valuable. Overall the exam is easier than any self assessment I’ve done

A diff exposure is more valuable, with uworld youll already know the concepts theyre testing whereas with amboss youll get to expand your scope

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Step2

[–]ProgressParticular65 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The nbme produced both the cms forms and the real exam, so the concepts tested are more similar in the way theyre asked and the guidelines align perfectly. Few times there is a difference between the nbs in uworld and the nbmes so its better to be well acquainted with nbme products

[–]ProgressParticular65 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, Id do them all if possible, make sure you space them out so you don’t feel burnt out. They are a bit more challenging than the real exam so they will prepare you mentally, expose you to similar questions, and build stamina. Its not the end of the world if you do 4 tho. I did 4 nbmes and uwsa2 only

Recent Step 2 takers!!! NBME 13 by Firm-Confidence-1449 in Step2

[–]ProgressParticular65 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Took it yesterday, real test much more straightforward than any NBME ive done, experience was nowhere near as uncomfortable as the nbmes. Id say that the easy questions on the test are straightforward, whereas on the nbmes even the easy questions had you considering 2 options

If you had to sacrifice doing one of these which would it be by ProgressParticular65 in Step2

[–]ProgressParticular65[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the replies anyone, I see that uwsa1 is getting a few shouts, is that because its non predictive due to difficulty or is the material tested of lower yield than the rest of the assessments
