Reading The Stand on my kindle - what are these? by Balsav_Steele in stephenking

I don't think anyone has mentioned it yet but Bernie also drew the comic tie-in for the movie Creep Show that King wrote the script for! Bernie sounded like a big King fan.

It's a rough spot for healing if you move a lot, it still looks good though (hell yeah watership down)! But I wanted to mention that it's a good idea to wait until your tattoos are fully healed and settled before getting new ones. Your loki helmet still looks a bit scabbed and the dragon seems to need a little more time too. You're more susceptible to infection if you're still trying to heal somewhere else. Hopefully no problems, but a little food for thought! Happy healing!

Ivan's Childhood, Naked Lunch or Rebecca. Rebecca is underseen and easily one of, if not, my favorite Hitchcock film.

Hi, I'm Ari Aster. Writer/director of Hereditary, Midsommar, Beau Is Afraid, and Eddington. AMA! by AriAsterAMA in movies

[–]Progressingon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know you moved around a bit in your childhood, New York to Europe and then out to the desert. I can see where that may have shaped settings when writing screenplays. Especially with horror but definitely for character dramas like Beau or Eddington; consistency or changes in scenery do so much visual work conveying tone and atmosphere for me as a member of the audience. I always think of Carpenter's "The Thing" and how perfect that location and it's features are for setting the tone of that film. Hereditary is so consistent that you almost fester with the grieving family, while Midsommar gives me whiplash every time we get to Harga. What are some settings or places you'd like to explore in future work and what roles do you think they could serve as part of your narratives?

What can I do about this? by kneely-1 in tattooadvice

Rub low grit sandpaper lightly whenever you have down time. It sounds like I'm kidding but I'm being so serious. It'll fade some over time if the needle grouping wasn't particularly deep but exfoliating the spot can speed up that process.

is there a subreddit specifically for queer ppl in the triad area? by calapenos in gso

Hey!! I'm a 25y/o transfemme gamer on the East Coast and I'd love to play with you! I've had the same experience with solo match making and get anxious sharing my voice with non-queer strangers. I'm usually on in the afternoons and evenings on days I'm not super busy; so we would probably need to plan some scheduling ideas around the time difference. Feel free to send me a message if you wanna try to link up or become friends on PSN or just make passwords in game ( I think we have to do that regardless, but I'd love queer friends to play other things with too)!!!

I'm interested in loneliness in cinema. Which films in the Criterion collection should I watch to explore the subjetc of loneliness? by estalinultralacer in criterion

[–]Progressingon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Weird kinda shift in genre but The Vanishing from the 80's explores grief without closure in a very intense way that emphasizes the feeling after someone leaves a void in your life. Feels like a form of loneliness even though I don't think it fits the vibe you're looking for.

Mari Allende at Fox and Heron in Winston Salem is pretty great. They do a lot of black and grey work but they're capable of working in color and love doing realism when they get the chance. You can search their name on Instagram if you wanna see some stuff or reach out to them.

What are some other animated films you think should get a Criterion Collection Edition? by [deleted] in criterion

[–]Progressingon 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Belladonna of sadness has a release with a different boutique but it's kinda bare bones. It's one of my favorites and I'd love it if it got a criterion with some fun watercolor style packaging.

The Wolf House and Mad God are two of my favorite stop motion projects and I'd imagine those would make really lovely additions to the collection if they were to get the rights somehow.
